Really confused on what breed is right for me.

[:)] Oh how I do hope someone's who has this dog can prove you wrong. The satisfation of knocking someone who "knows it all" off their pedistal. Do the searching yourself on the internet if you dont believe me. It's when a blue wiem and a brownish grey breed. The end result is once in a blue moon you get a blue fawn.
And thank you for taking the time to look up the information on her before you jumped the gun too. Yes, I agree, she's beautiful. I dont mind that I cant show her, she's still gorgous to me.

We don't mean to criticize you, Sara. It's very hard to get a good idea of someone's level of committment from an initial post. I think many are probably reacting to the fact that you had two puppies and both of them were "untrainable" for housebreaking. I know it raised a red flag for me. I am willing to admit that we don't know the whole story and hope you stick around to get good advice adn let us know if/when you get a dog.

I have a Pomeranian, my first and only small dog. She was VERY hard to house train. It took 5-6 months of very consistent, patient work. It is probably one of the hardest training efforts I've ever had.

I'm glad you're a lover of animals, too, you'll be in good company.

Saradrin, if you are legit, I am very happy that you are pleased with your dog.

I must be losing my mind, because I see a black and tan dog in the picture.......is that what others see?

OUCH.  Let's be rude to one another.  That accomplishes a lot.

Glenmar- I am sorry if you didnt like that post, but Im sick and tired of people making me feel like I'm a lier or a bad person. I am neither, in fact. If you must know my dad had a heart attack when I had my westie. I didnt the have time she DESERVED, because my dad was very sick after his TRIPLE BYPASS surgery. I COULD have kept her, but when I knew that between my daughter, work and my dad I really couldnt give her the attention she needed. If I were to have kept her that would have made ME feel like a horrible person. I was heart broken I had to give her to another family, but she was better off with them. I TOLD them about her not being hoouse broken and they were okay with that. I didnt give her away because of her house braking issue. I don't understand why I had to tell you people that, but apperantly I could say it wasnt because of house tranining issues until I was blue in the face and nobody would still believe me. But my dad is doing very well now, after months of doctor appointments. He's back to work, and very happy with the outcome. [:)] So, that's my story.
One thing I have to ask though, Katrina is sleeping an awful lot, and we're bringing her to the vet, but they dont have any openings for a couple days. She's eating, but not very much. When she's awake she's still a but nervous but never the less, happy go lucky. Do you think she's sick or does this have to do with seperation anixity? What's the best way to go around making this easier for her?

Very interesting looking dog. I actually thought she was a Dobe too. She looks like she could be mixed. Then again, it depends on the type of breeder too. If a breeder is breeding strictly pet quality animals, it would make sense that the dog would not look like the breed it's supposed to be. Either way, good luck to you and I hope you are more committed to this dog than you were to the others.

My pup sleeps a lot now also, he's 5 months, right after his walk he goes right to sleep and naps on and off during the day, i was told by friends it was because he is a growing puppy and it was normal for him to sleep a lot..... does anyone else think that is right?? i took him for his check up and the vet said he was totally fine and healthy [:)]

Weims come in 2 colors? I thought their coat should be all one color? [8|]

    Pretty dog though

That's what I pointed out, Prince, and got jumped on for it.  Somebody has their "knickers in a knot" [sm=uhoh.gif]

Ehh, I'm not too offended though. I know that what I said didn't mean to offend.

I'm slowly trying to thicken my skin as much as glenda's, so I just brush it off. So much more things in life to worry about.
I really honestly didn't know there was another color for a weim- so I learned something today! [:D]

As far as health goes, has she been wormed before? Gotten all her shots? I know when Daisy goes to the groomer or vet, she sleeps for a while. Could be just stress from everything being so new!

One Weim site I came across states that Dobe markings are a serious fault in the Weimaraner breed.  Obviously, you bought a pet quality dog, and perhaps this is of no consequence to you, but if your breeder misrepresented the dog to you as "rare", and charged you big bucks for the dog, that person is not what I would call a reputable breeder.
FYI, [linkhttp://www.weim.net]www.weim.net[/link] has info and a link to the Weim email list.

How long ago did you bring her home.

I have heard that you need to give them two weeks before expecting them to be comfortable with their surroundings.  After we found Minnie who had been hit by a car and abused, she slept for about a month before coming around.  Thats all she did, sleep.

Give some time to sleep and adjust and get comfortable before you expect too much personality wise.

We've had her for a few days now. She's so darn lazy, *smiles* Yes, I know she's at serious fault for her marking, but it doesnt make me love her any less. I couldnt be happier. And yes, the owner did tell me that. I don't care though because breeding was the last thing that came to my mind when we bought her. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but I'm just taking  it one day at a time. :)
