    Some people are so stupid

Watching the news tonight, there is a story of about a newborn child having some toes chewed off by a pit bull.  Further into the story the viscious pit bull is shown on camera.  This dog is a puppy all of 7-8 weeks old at the most.  I am not a pit bull person by nature, they are a little to stubborn for my tastes.  Any way I couldn't believe that the big story was "Pit Bull Attack"  this isn't a pit attack but a puppy being a puppy.  My big question was why do this child's parents still have custody of this baby?  Where were the parents during this "brutal attack"?  And why would anyone in their right mind leave a young puppy alone in a room with a baby?  Lastly, why is this considered an attack, I have a 5 month old dachshund who on occasion chews my couch, and that's not considered an attack.  Some people are just so stupid, these parents don't need a kid or a dog.

I read this story too. The baby is 1 month old the puppy is 6 wks old, the baby was in one of the sit and sleep chairs on the floor and "mom" and "dad" were asleep on mattresses on the floor also, as was the puppy. Now the wonderful seller of the pup was contacted and she said "that puppy was the least chewy in the litter". Good Grief. A vet and the pediatrician both said if the puppy did this it would have taken over an hour for the puppy to accomplish it. Would the baby not be screaming the whole time. I guess mom and dad were out cold! This is so horrible, whatever happened to this poor baby had to be agonizing. she lost 4 toes, that is the thing that has me suspicious, that it was one foot nothing touched the other foot.
This really made me sick to my stomach.

Wow, this is the first I heard of it.
Where were the parents? It's the parents fault in my opinion.A six week old pup is not old enough to charge a person full out.
Once again, where were the parents? They shouldn't own a dog, let alone have a child.

Ok, I have to have a license to own a dog, even have to register it, have to get one to get married too, and you get a certificate, driving? yup need one for that, you even have to have tags for your car and register that as well.

So how come there is no law on the number of children you can have, or if you can even have one? Would certainly save the lives of alot of children.

*yes I know, it will never happen, but geesh!

I read this story as well.  The child is in custody until it's decided if the parents should face charges.  The dog is in quaranteen because it hasn't had it's rabies shots yet.  I wonder if the parents were on drugs and or drunk and passed out cold.  How could you not hear your baby screaming?  Come on people.... sheesh.

Read the story here too - the thing that gets me, on top of "how the heck did the "parents" not hear their child screaming", is that the pup could very likely contract parvo while in quarantine as the breeder has said it wasn't vaccinated. This 6 week old pup is being housed at the local animal control facility and is a pit - three factors that put him at *high* risk for illness; did none of the people who set up the quarantine think of this? Even housing at a vet clinic would be preferable to the animal control facility. *sigh*

that situation just has drugs written all over it. i can't even say anymore because just thinking about it makes me sick and angry and disgusted and i would probably lose alot of respect over the not so nice things i might say.

Read the last part of the article :

That criminal offense, Louisiana Revised Statute 14:93.2.1, says "Child desertion is the intentional or criminally negligent exposure of a child under the age of 10 years, by a person who has the care, custody, or control of the child, to a hazard or danger against which the child cannot reasonably be expected to protect himself, or the desertion or abandonment of such child, knowing or having reason to believe that the child could be exposed to such hazard or danger."

If convicted, the parents face only a fine of up to $500 and up to six months in prison.

With idiot parents like this... they would probably say..."oops sorry, took one to many hits off the crack pipe and forgot about you, sorry about your toes, but you have six more...pass the pipe..."

This was posted on another forum and believe it or not, there is another story (can post the link if you like) about a JRT chewing off an infant's FOOT.

Yeah, I think the parents need to be sterilized.

My question is how do we eve know the parents WERE there?

It is doubtful to me, even in a drug enduced state that you wouldnt hear your baby screaming as that child had to be. The poor kid.

I have always said people should be required to pass a test in order to have a child. Harsh perhaps but look at these jerks.

From the way the article read it didnt seem like the people were well off. The question can also be asked, why was the dog sold at 6 weeks of age? The breeder is obviously an idiot too.
    • Gold Top Dog
Wait, the puppy is only 6 weeks old!  Shouldn't the pup still be with the breeder?  Not that this will really matter in the case but sounds like the parents didn't even care one bit about the pups health...  Why did they even get a puppy when they were exspecting a baby... So many things wrong in this story...[:@]

Update from CNN. Mom amd Dad in jail.[sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

    Baby in hospital.[:(]

    Pup at society.[:(]

They had a ferret also that was taken away from them also. I personally am going to blame it on the ferret.

CNN said that the society where the pup is being held have had many phone calls of people who want to take the pup.

Just kidding about that the ferret did it. The blame falls totally on the Mom and Dad.

To go even further who lets a 6 week old puppy have free rein of the house?
Why wasnt the baby in the crib?
Why did the pup have access to the baby?

The vet said there were signs the pup was trying to nurse....poor lil guys, both of them, the dog and the baby

    Can I scream now??

Lock the worthless parents up and spueter the both of them, take that precious infant and adopt her to a loving home with parents who care more about a child than whatever it is these parents cared about, and find a loving forever home for the pup.

Pup should be ok.....immunities from momma don't wear off until somewhere between 8-15 weeks, so he should still have momma's immunity against parvo......I hope.
