Found a lost soul! And me with no camera!

Or, we lost the upload cable to Jordan's digital, rather.

We were on our way to the dog park and open market yesterday in Chattanooga, when we found this pretty little girl in the middle of the road in a less than savory neighborhood we have to drive through to get to the park. So of course we pull right over and Jordan hops out into traffic to try and grab her. She hid under a parked car and finally he was able to grab her and pull her out and carry her back to the car.

I wish I had photos! She's so pretty. She's about 35 pounds, somewhere between 9 months and just over a year old I'd think, medium length brindle fur with a white blaze on her chest and the prettiest little feminine face. We're calling her Gypsy.

When we first got ahold of her, she was hand-shy, scared of the other dogs, walked around with her tail tucked . . . she acts like a dog who's been kicked around a lot. She hasn't been leash trained, doesn't seem housebroken but does get a little fussy before she has to go, and if you make a fast movement, she cowers. But after a few hours with us at home, she really opened up. She's a REALLY sweet dog. I'm going to call around and make it known she was found, but if nobody claims her I think my best friend has fallen in love with her - and her apartment is back-to-back with ours. [:)]

I'll try to get photos soon!

Should also make sure she's scanned for a microchip...along with the usual signs and notifications.

Very nice of you to help keep her safe while her prior home is found...and hopefully they are looking for her and missing her and will be so happy to see her again! [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

I do hope she does have a home out there. If she had a micro it'd be great, she had no collar and after her bath our tub was full of dark brown water. Looks like she's been out and about for a while, and doesn't seem like she was much of an indoor/trained dog.

If only they could talk, right? [;)]

That's so nice of you to take her in. It would be cool if she could live with your neighbor, then you could see her all the time.

Bless you for rescuing Gypsie.  I hope she gets to live with your friend.  It sounds like she wasn't in a very good home before.  Give her some lovin' on from me.

We took her to the pound today to have them scan her for a chip, and no big surprise - she is not microchipped. They took photos, though. Nobody's called in looking for a dog of her description.

She has changed by leaps and bounds since even yesterday. She trusts us now and is excited to see us. She's learned her new name. She approaches other people, tail wagging. We took her to the park, and that was shaky at first, but by the time we left she was allowing other dogs to sniff her. As I'm writing this, she is curled up on DH's stomach on the bed, happy as can be. She's starting to get used to the leash, but panics a little if she gets to the end and fights the leash. Not bad for her first day, though.

We gave her a bath and she is INCREDIBLY soft and shiny - she cleans up well. Can't say the same for my bathtub, though. [:'(]

Thank you and bless you for taking her in.  I hope your neighbor gets to keep her.
Post some pics when and if  you are able to and let us know how things turn out.
