    Someone tell me no!

Will someone please tell me that I cannot have another dog!  I really want the girl I mentioned a few days ago..http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7287351.  I want her so bad.  She is very sweet and from what I know about her, she would fit in well here.  She is submissive so that would work well with my other dogs.  But, I have a one bedroom apartment and I live right next to the office.  They would shoot me if I brought home another dog!  But the maintenance guy has 3 Rottweilers.  Plus, I can't afford another dog.  Well, I could if I really cut back going out expenses.  Please!  Tell me no!  I'll just go play with her until she gets adopted or until I move out and I can take her.

YES YES YES! you asked for that, you know you are just fishing for justification [:D]

You definitely should NOT... leave her there at the shelter[8D].

Do it!!!!!!!!! You wont regret it if you do but you already know that... although, you probably will regret it if you dont, so go get that girl outta there already![:)]

No seriously, if you really cant afford it maybe you shouldnt.... although, at least IMO... its not something you ever really say you can you just do.  Good luck with deciding.

If you cant afford another dog, you should not get another dog.  Sorry but that is the reality that needs to be faced.  I know it is hard, but you can not personally save them all and your first responsibility is to those already in your care.  It is the same for all of us.

I hate to say it but I have to agree with MRV. Unexpected things come up in a dog's life and you need to be financially prepared for them before you get the dog.

We seem to be under the Thanksgiving curse. Each year within one week after Thanksgiving we end up with an unexpected expense of at least a thousand dollars for our dogs.

If you can't afford it, don't do it, as you won't be doing any favors. If the impact on your expenses causes a reduction in the ability to care for your other pets or yourself, then it could lead to the same situation, maybe, that got her there, i.e., people unable to care for her.

OTOH, if you can afford it, then do what you feel, though always with a reality check from your head and pocket book. I can't rescue every animal I see. I'm at my limit right now with a cat and a dog and me and DW. So, I don't spend a lot of time looking at rescues as there is no use beating myself up over something I can't do much about, though I donate a few dollars every week to the local shelter.

The good news is that she is at at no-kill shelter.  My plan for now is to just go play with her and the other dogs.  I could afford her, but it would be a bit crowded in this apartment with another dog, especially a somewhat big one.  Well, big compared to my little ones.  So, I'll settle for playing with her for now.

    " NO"

There it is, it wouldn't work for me. I am a sucker when it comes to animals. That is why I have 5 dogs[:)]

I think what you are doing now is fine.  You know he is safe at the shelter and you can still visit him till he finds a home.  Maybe the shelter will even allow you to foster him during a weekend or soething like that?  There will always be more that will melt your heart and you can only do so much for each one, just visiting him is enough to show you care.

That clears some things up. Maybe, you'll get a bigger place, some day. But at least you get to visit with him.
