What do you do with your dog's "doo"

Wondering what everyone does with their dog's poop.  Not on walks but in your own yard.  Do you put it in the trash and then it ends up in the dump?  ...chuck it into the woods?

There is some sort of in-ground poop disposal method I'm interested in...anyone do that?

I rake it into a pile, scoop it up into a plastic bag and put it in the outside trash bin.  Easy when my dog has her poop spot.

we put it in the trash. it is organic matter, and should break down rather quickly.

There is, and my vet has one set up in the back yard of her clinic.  It's basicaly a hole in the gound with a fancy cover that you step on and it lifts the lid so you can just rake the poop in there.  Then you use a powder that disolves the poop.   Here is a link to the one she has and how it works: [linkhttp://radiofence.com/doggie_dooley.htm]http://radiofence.com/doggie_dooley.htm[/link]

Was real simple but IMO when I used it, I really didn't see much of a differnce using that over putting it in the trash.  It just took about half a min. less time.  There are things just as discusting as dog poop that end up in the dump, I don't really see it a big deal to put poop in the trash.

Ogre and Pepito are both primarily on raw so their poop is small and breaks down really easily. Unless it's in a really conspicuous spot, I just leave it. Axl is on kibble, so his poops are definitely more noticeable...but he's always preferred to back up into a bush to go, and as long as he does that no one can see it so I leave that too.

That's in my own yard though. Anywhere else, and I pick it up and throw it in the trash.

I gather it up day before trash day, bag it and toss it out with the trash. I have heard the dooley's don't work well at all with mroe than one dog...the digester is an extra expense that comes up often...and really the idea of that poop soup right under my lawn makes my skin crawl!

We have a mini galvanized trash can with lid sitting on the front step (attractive huh? oh well, it's functional) and I keep a plastic bag in the can and deposit the do do, which we retrieve on walks via grocery shopping bags and out it goes on a weekly basis.  I agree with the fact that it is biodegradable (very) and will breakdown easily.

My dogs are small and there poops are small and easy to pick up, I just pick it up in a plastic bag, tie it in a knot and throw it in the trash barrels outside. I try to do it every other day.

In warmer weather, I scopp it up and put it in a diaper genie in my back yard. From there it gets emptied to the trash on trash day. No odor that way.

In winter, I just bag it up and toss it in the trash can.

Maggie rarely has to poop in our patio area, usually she's walked, but when she does, I scoop it and bag it in one of my regular doggie bags.

One thing to remember is, that while poop is biodegradable when encased in plastic it will still take up space in the landfill. I use biodegradable bags for dog poop so that I don't worry about how much plastic I'm putting into the landfill permanently. I wish they made larger sizes for regular garbage.

My dogs' poop never lasts longer than a week and they poop primarily in one corner of the yard, so I leave it. When I fed kibble, I occasionally shoveled it up and buried it where they'd dug holes to stop them from digging. They don't dig any more, and there's no need to pick up poop, so I'm happy[:D]

berserker won't poop anywhere but in the woods, thank dog i live on the edge of town and have woods on 2 sides of my yard, i generally havent ventured out to find and pick it up. i'd probably end up with more deer and coon poop than anything if i did.

On walks we bag and dispose of, however, at home, yeah, I chuck it in the woods.  We dug a deep hole to get dirt for filling holes they've dug, so it goes into the hole.  Far enough into the deep woods that we aren't gonna smell it, and every now and then we'll toss some dirt over it.  It bothers me to put something biodegradable into a plastic bag, and it's not hurting a darned thing composting in the woods.

If it's close to trash pick-up day, I pick it up in a bag and put it in the can outside.  Sometimes DH digs a shallow hole and buries it. I popped into Pet-Co today to grab a new supply of the little bags that fit into the containers that attach to the leash and was surprised to read on the package in big letters "100% Biodegradable" [:)] then saw in little tiny letters under that "except as defined by California" [:@]. Now I need to find out how biodegradable is defined differently here than anywhere else in the country.
