I'm sure the puppy-raising experts will be here soon (Come quick, Mary!), and their advice is better than mine. I don't have that much experience in it, but I know enough to say that you should have done some research on this before  you went out and bought a puppy. There are things like crate training, etc, that you should be thinking about right now. Try looking at the Puppies section in the Training thread.
Good luck with your new pup.

Yup, most dogs do, and this one probably will too . . . . but hopefully it happens outside.

Ihopnes, there is lots of sites that spell out how to train your puppy.  Look up,
"caring for you puppy",  "puppy healthcare", "cratetraining your puppy"- a very good idea,   "what to feed your puppy"

There is a lot already written on this site and you can research and ask each question re. your dog.

Breed specific literature is very good to get because dogs that have been bred are going to have special things about them you may benefit by learning about.

Should research first before we get pets, but I know we all do not do that.  Just as long as you start, it doesn't matter !

But you don't have time to waste.

As far as potty training, think it is good to start them out outside and in one spot..on leash.  That way the pup will learn one time the right thing for it to do.  I did the paper training and then the outside.  It is a little more work over time.

The Ultimate Puppy Toolkit is great if you can find it.  There's a store search here:
    www.premierpet.com
Also, try to find a puppy class for her.  These sites will have trainer searches:
    www.clickertraining.com
    www.apdt.com
Some trainers are doing "petite pals" type classes just for small breed dogs, others just make arrangements so the smaller breed pups don't have to interact with larger, more obnoxious pups during the playtime.  Try to find someone who uses positive methods, clicker or treat based training, and not choke chains.
