Use in place of E-Collar

You might check at your local petstore...we got our e-collar for under five dollars.

Roll the towel and secure it with duct tape.  It will work as a quick fix.

Aa, heck, I use duct tape to fix or hold together just about everything.  I used it around the edges of a play mat I put down on the computer room floor, and to cover a coffee can at work that we're using to hold pens, scissors, etc.
 
An easy subsitute for an e-collar is a plastic bucket with the bottom cut out (the light weight ones from the paint deptartment).  Take the handle off, cover the rough edge from cutting the bottom out with duct tape, and punch holes along the bottom edge to tie the bucket to a collar.  I learned the bucket trick back in the '70's when one of our goats broke both his back legs.  It worked great when Mick had his first of many hot spots.  Another little tip- it's easier if you use a seperate collar for the bucket/e-collar instead of your dog's every day one.  That way you can leave the collare threaded through the e-collar/bucket when you remove it.

LOL, this is actually the route I ended up going BUT she still managed to get it over the top of her head.  Im thinking I was too worried about putting it on too tight so she could pull it off.  Im off to the store this AM to get a normal e-collar or maybe an ace bandage to try to the towel one again.  I just know how uncomfortable Daisy was with the e-collar back when so I just wanted to go a more comfortable route this time.

Thanks for the idea.  If I had a lightweight bucket around the house Id give it a try.  I think Ill stick with the e-collar or towel idea for now.  Thanks again!!
