your dog: buddy or baby?

    your dog: buddy or baby?

so i've always thought of my dog as one of my kids, but last night when i was sitting on the couch and tilted my head back to rest on the back of the couch and berserker was right there and put his head on mine i realized, i respect him more than that. not to say i dont respect my kids, but i view my dog as more of an equal, and however babied he is, i dont think i will ever think of him as my baby again. he is truely my best friend.

so i was wondering what you consider your dog to be.

Gypsy is my buddy--no doubt here!

My April is my baby, she is such a little girl.  *S*

Moe is my sweet little baby, Maggie is my buddy.

For some reason I see Maggie as being able to take care of herself (ie, while we are at work, not worrying about her in the house by herself, etc.) while as I guess since Moe is small I see him as being a baby who needs constant attention

The 3 grown ones are my buddies, the 2 ;puppies are still that, puppies and babies.

I trust my dogs with my life.......they prove every day how good they are as watch dogs.

Axl is definitely my buddy. When I got him he already knew how to behave perfectly, and has never needed any training at all. He's always been such a mature dog, and we've been through alot together. I've always seen him as more of a big brother than a baby. He's getting a bit old and crochety and grouchy, and I've had to reprimand him a couple of times now for being rude, and the few times I've had to do it, it's felt so strange- like I'm reprimanding someone much older than me that I have alot of respect for. It's weird.

Pepito is like a human infant. He can't do anything for himself in the slightest and can't seem to learn (most likely due to neuroligical problems, I've now learned.) And Ogre is like a very bright older child...sometimes too bright for his own good. [8|]

My two are a chronic headache!  But the three of us are definitely pack.  I can't think of a life being complete without them.  How empty would the house, and my heart be if I didn't have to deal with problem solving, fast moving, always ready for a hunt, drivey dogs that basically look to me for approval and when they don't get it they do what they want anyways?

They are my teachers and my students, my friends and my family.

My dog is definitely my baby at the moment... But he still is himself just a baby!

I bet he'll be my buddy when he's older.

I call her my baby because I adore her so much. But she's also always been my companion. She'll follow me around the house and sit with me. I'm always the first one she comes to when she wants to play. So I guess it's a bit of both! [:D]

Though she was really my Mom's dog (hence why I didn't take her with me when I moved), Nikki was my buddy.  She was an incrediable friend to me....always there for a game of toss the toy and tug of war, and would never ever leave my side if I was feeling sick or sad. She'd sit and listen to you for as long as needed (of course if you added in some butt scratches and belly rubs she was definately all ears lol).  It's been really hard living away from her.

I think mine are both babies and buddies, depending on the day and the situation. They are my children and depend upon me, but they are also my good buddies. They love going for a ride and taking long hikes with me. Marley is slightly more buddy while Shaq is a bit more baby.

Mine are my buddies, definitely. It's hard to imagine my 90 lbs Lab x as a baby anyways!!

My dogs are my friends, and my adopted family.  [:D]

Both - they are definitely family.  No mistaking that.  And even though Pofi is 2 and Mia 1, Po is still more of our baby in some ways.  He's more demonstrative in subtle ways - Mia's affection is loud and energetic.  He's a snuggle bug and still likes to be cuddled and babied when he's sleepy.

Shadow is our dog and is my responsibility and I provide the majority of the caretaking. With the exception of one visit, I handle the vet visits and pay for those for both pets, I buy Shadow's food, flea treatment, worm preventative, change the water, de-poopify the yard, etc. DW usually buys stuff for the cat, though I will, too. I just got us a cat teaser fishing pole.

Though we do training and I expect obedience, he is a non-human companion. We walk, play, he will only eat a full portion in my presence. He sits on the couch and the bed but will move out of my way. It's a mutally enjoyable companionship.
