new home for 'dog-talk'

Reading what I've posted, I see what you mean.  I'm going a million miles a minute.  Partly due time crunches this weekend.  :)
First, the Rimadyl is only for a week until we get a radiological report out of Colorado.  Then once we find out the cause of his pain ( a strain from hard play or arthritis)  then I can make decisions on long term pain management.  And with him in pain, we are keeping him as still as we can, but he's a big energetic fella so he isn't always keeping quiet.  The only obedience he is going to be practicing is 'sit' and 'off' and little else.  The 'real' obed lessons won't be until his shoulder is mended or pain managed whichever we figure for him.  No, I wasn't planning any action for him until a green light from the vet and heartworm trtmnt is over if he really does have it.  Thnx for reminder to settle down..:)  need feet back on ground.  I'm so glad to have found him.  Jules [:)]

I've been reading about heartworm, JESUS CHRIST!!!!  I'm scared and upset. My computer is hard to see so I will check back in later, after I get the secondary blood test results for microfilaria.  Love to all... Jules[:(]

An excellent resource for you right now is Callie.  She's been through the hw treatment and she's also got a ton of great homeopathics for arthritis.  I'm not sure that Callie has EVER had a normal healthy dog...she seems to always get the special needs one and knows more than most of us have ever even thot about knowing!

Thankyou so much Glenda.  I settled down, I am reading, and did what you said and e-mailed for advise. :) Jules

You're welcome.  Now take a nice deep cleansing breath and relax a little.  You'll get through this.

I gotta buy a pretty big crate.  Mack is resting on the floor at my feet.  Laying down from rump to front toenails is 52 inches.  (w/o tail)   Jules

Thanks Glenda, Callie is giving me excellent advice.  Thanks for your support and nudge in the right direction.  Mack's medical issues keep getting more complicated.  Both blood tests are indeed pos for h/w and microfilaria. Lovely.  Second, an xray shows his elbow is malformed, requiring surgery.  This is a very abreviated report, I will try to post as time permits.  Thanks, to Jaime also and congrats on new pups!  I dunno why I'm the one complaining, its the dog that's facing a long hard year of healing and recouperating.
*sigh*   We still love the dog, he really is a gem. Now I just gotta figure out how to get some of his pics posted.  [sm=wink2.gif] Jules

I'm not ready to give details yet, but there are amazing energies at work here rallying for our dog.  Everybody please think good thoughts for my dog, Mack.  He is such a sweetheart, very well mannered and gentle. It's almost midnight here in Utah and he is asleep at my feet.  He snores and when he dreams his feet look like he is running.  He yips and chases who-knows-what.
There is a reason he was rescued before he was put down at the pound. Everything seems a bit sureal.  I think everything is going to work out after all, you are right Glenda.   Thanks, Jules

Lordy! It's a good thing kid boogers aren't poisonous to dogs!
Nicholas was standing in front of Mack and had this giant slobbery sneeze, which in turn flicked a clinkery booger from his little nose two feet in front of him.  Where did the clinkery booger land????
Yep, hanging off Mack's nose. Before I could get a tissue, yeppers indeedy, Mack licked his nose clean.  Bye bye clinkery boogers.
I think I nearly choked to death.  Now my curteous son OFFERS those nice nose treats on the end of his finger and it's a race to beat the dog to the clinker.  Is it child abuse to tape my boy's nose shut?!?  EEeewwww    [sm=smack.gif]   Jules
I'm wondering if the dog will view my son as some interactive 'pez' dispenser.

Well, Mack begins h/w treatment this Thurs and Fri.  I'm getting a break on the vet cost, which will help me afford the trtmnt and also the surgery that is going to follow.  More news, later...  Jules
