    Diarrhea smell in carpet

My brand new thick carpet was diarrhea 'd on.  I scrubbed it, used 2 carpet cleaners but the smell is still deep down in the carpet.  I poured some vinegar/water mix  on it.  Still there. Fortunately, the carpet is dark color so I see no stain (yet).

I have Natures Miracle but thought that is for urine.

Any ideas to get rid of the smell?

Nature's Miracle is an odor neutralizer so you can use it on this. Only thingis make sure all those other cleaners you used are gone or else they might neutralize the enzyme reaction.

Pam, I don't have any advice but I hope someone comes along that can help!  I haven't quite had that problem yet (only poopy pancakes if Trixie's diaper hole isn't big enough to poo out of - lol)  Glad the carpet is dark [;)]

You're not going to lilke my answer: we had the same problem and finally the only thing to fix it was to pull it up. For allergy reasons as well, our house is now all wood floors, vinyl or laminate. The problem is that the substance gets down into the mat below the carpet, which is usually foam rubber, and it just doesn't ever get out. I've found the enzyme neutralizers to be only marginally effective and not long-lasting.

Well, before you pull the carpet up, I suggest giving other enzymatic cleaners a try.

Nature's Miracle sold the name, but not the formula.  I think the new name is Petastic. Try that one or Pet Force.  Pet Force you have to dilute right before you use it so that the enzymes are 'active'.

My dogs had urine that went under the baseboard where I couldn't even clean it up. I must've used an entire gallon by the time it finally got the odor out.  I just kept putting some on the area about twice a week, letting it dry in between times.  It took some time.  Last winter, whenever it would rain, and the humidity would set it, boy the odor would come out in full force.  But, using Petastic over the course of a couple of months, the odor was finally banished.  It took so long b/c I wasn't able to get the original stain up.  So, the cleaner had to slowly eat it's way thru.

Our clinic uses a product called Equalizer for accidents.  It removes all kinds of stains & odors that just won't go away.  I have actually bathed one of my dogs in it after she was sprayed by a skunk and for the most part the smell was removed.  Contact your vet clinic and see if they carry it.
