This is officially the stupidest thing I have ever read...ever.

I am prefacing this by saying that if you own a bully breed you probably do not want to read this because it will ruin your day. I am posting so people can write in and let the proper people know that their study is obviously flawed and insulting to many responsible dog owners everywhere,

Here is a link to a page for one contributor to this study..

I cannot find contact info for the Barnes woman quoted. Perahps writing to the editor of the article would be sufficient. Calm and nicely written counter points are probably going to help more than rants [;)]

Amazing. I've got a bulldog and an akita, and I've never had so much as a speeding ticket. Maybe I'm just a "ticking-time-bomb" too, though. One of these days I'll probably just snap and go on a rampage. Obviously. Why else would I own "vicious" dogs?

I couldn't even read that whole article. That's incredibly depressing. I hate living in fear that my favorite breeds are going to be banned, and my dogs labeled vicious, because the media can't shut their ignorant, fear-mongering mouths. [:(]

This is frustrating beyond belief. I too agree that calm responses to that article will do more good than rants, so maybe I should wait a few hours before I write in. [:@]

I have a cocker spaniel/poodle mix and I've been arrested! Louise must be secretly vicious. She looks like she's napping while hugging her toy rooster, but she's probably just planning her next attack.

I've had a speeding ticket AND own a pit bull AND a rottweiler. Better just lock me up now, no telling when I might snap.

I've been arrested and I have hounds!

Also, have they not heard about correlation not equating with causation? That's like Research Methods 101.

Thank you houndlove! I was going to say that about correlation does not equal causation.

    KaBOOM.

    That was my head exploding.

Was this thinly disguised witch hunt laughingly called a study, publically funded? I sure as heck hope not.

Where is the scientific discipline? These people work for a medical institution? Scary bad.

Yeah I've gotten 4 speeding tickets in my life.  Um, I don't think any of the below are "dangerous" breeds.

I don't know. Kota looks quite ferocious.

I have a pit bull foster...

Who wrote that article? I am going to kick their a**

    *lol* j/k

    What idiots..

Sure a lot of "thugs" own pit bulls, rotweillers, dobermans, exc. But I know quite a few law abiding owners of those breeds.

Not to mention they took this from a sample (from what I can discern) of dog owners in Ohio only? Wonder what the arrest statistics look like for that particular area in contrast with other areas? Criterion contamination... blah blah blah.

Sad thing is that a Joe Public with an axe to grind is gonna buy this stuff.

I've had a speeding ticket and I own papillons.  You know, those REALLY vicious, scary looking dogs.

    That's just dumb.

Let's think... any outside factors they missed?  You can relate all sorts of things, doesn't mean that causes that.

    exactly.

The correlation should have been that criminals are more likely to own pit bulls, rott's, etc than poodles or beagles.  Not that owners of these breeds are criminals.
