Good News or the Bad News

So my day started terrible. I had posted that Rory has had the sniffles so I made a vet appointment and they faxed me a confirmation. DH goes to take Rory today and soem how they "lost" our appointment! On top of that they were swamped, DH asked if maybe they had time to fit her in and wihtout even looking at her computer the receptionist said "defintly not"
He called me from the parking lot, I called them and said " So are you basically telling me that you confirmed a appotnment, lost it, and are now turning away my potentially sick dog that has been seeing you since she was a puppy"? All she said was "sorry for the mix-up' Ooh I wanted to go bomb that place, I sent DH back in there ato retrieve her records!
So yea, a lot of you know I get riled up to quickly, now I'm sad over the whole thing, the vet is so nice and loves Rory to peices. Should I try and speak the the vet or office manager or should I just take my business elsewhere. I know Rory just had the sniffles, they are all but gone now but she was due for a check-up BUT what if we had a serious emergency? They would just turn us away, oh and its Peninusla Animal "Hospital" not veterinary, the jerks, great hosiptal huh?
    What do you all think.

ok, good news Rory is in our local SPCA's 2007 calender!!!! I forgot all about it! In February they took donations and in exchange we got a chance to be featured and my Rory is Miss February, my lil pin up pit bull, ha ha.I ahvnt seen it yet, my mom just called to tell me!
    Its this pic but bigger!

Perhaps a thoughtful hand written note stating how disappointed you are addressed to your vet is in order.  You should also point out that while you feel the vet provides excellent care, you are concerned about the what if's of an emergency.

I love my vet, so it'd take something serious for me to switch.  If this happened to me, I'd be furious, too, but I'd probably look over this time because of how great he normally is.  If it happened again, I'd go elsewhere.  But yeah, I'd speak with the vet if it were me.  He'd know of my concerns for this instance, so if it did happen again, it'd be understandable as to why I quit returning.

Just to be clear a place can only call themself a "hospital" if they are open or on call 24 hrs, other than that there really is no difference between a hospital and a clinic. The place I worked at was wonderful but they called themself a clinic eventhough they have all the same equipment that you would find in a "hospital"

I think a letter to the vet explaining what happened and how you felt might set everything right.  The vet, afterall, probably helped decide to hier this recepionest.  It was just one person who turned you away, not the whole place and it should be between the manager and that person to talk it over.  I would be angry also if that happened.  I know the place I worked at we were told to never turn away a client, it's just not good for the busness.  Yes, talk to the vet.

That happened to me at a human orthopedist's office.  I even had the appt written down for me on one of their cards.  It was all computerized, and apparently someone forgot to hit "enter."  They wouldn't fit me in either.  Yes, I was angry, but rescheduled it.  Not much else I could do...very busy office.

I think, for me, if this was just a regular check up, I'd excuse it.  Be mad, but excuse it.  But I make an appt for a sick dog and you turn me away with barely an apology, nope.  I'd be more than peeved and I likely would have walked out with all my animals' records, too.

I definitely would be letting the vet know of your experience, though, because frankly, I can't imagine my vets' staff knowingly lose a client for the business.  I think that was a very bold decision for the desk staff to make and I'd be shocked if the vet thought this was ok.

Guess it would depend on the response whether I could feel trust in them again.

I would also speak to the Vet and see if he/she makes an attempt to get you to stay.  The Vet likely has no idea that you were turned away and that you don't plan to come back.  Give him/her a chance to fix it.

Oh and congratulations on the calendar!!!!!!  That's very exciting, you must be very proud. :)
