    I hate...

people who post ads on craigslist giving their dog up because "they are moving" There are so many apartments now that let you have pets! I hate people who buy a toy breed dog, and then try to "re-sell" it on craigslist to recoup their money!

Yep! This person posted about a cairn terrier puppy they bought for $800 and they are "willing" to accept a fee a little less than that! WTF! Of course, me being me, asked to see pics of the pup and how much of an "adoption" fee they charge...They said they are giving the pup up because it doesnt get along w/ the other dog..hmm, wouldnt you make sure your dogs got along before getting another puppy?!

me 2!! being someone who wants to have kids in a few years after I get married next year, I would never ever ever think of giving up my dogs because I'm having a baby! I dont see it being too hard to manage dogs and a baby, and once the baby is old enough, toss the baby in a stroller and everyone can go for a nice walk! :) I want my kids to grow up w/ dogs and love them like i do.

I think it was determined here the other week that it is quite okay to give up your dog because you're moving.  [8|]

Some cases of moving, I think are okay to have to give a dog up. It's sad, but it's understandable. A job forcing a family to move is one. It's not always anticipated, especially if the family is in service and can't bring their dog, or all of their dogs, with them.
My Malamute was the result of a family having to move because a family member was ill with a longterm disease and needed help, but they had to move in with the family member, and that person was allergic to dogs. They had three dogs and rehomed the other two together. Sometimes, things just don't work out for everyone.

However, when someone is asking an outrageous price in return, it's a little sketchy, and almost rude, IMO. Just giving a dog up because you don't want it anymore isn't really acceptable to me, but, that dog is much better off with a new family where it is wanted, rather than where it's going to be treated like garbage.

While I do think that there are cases where it may ne impossible to keepa a dog when you move, I really do think that people underestimate how adaptable dogs really are.  Sally is 55 lbs and lived comfortabley in a teeny, tiny apt happily with us and 2 crabby cats (well, actually one crabby cat and one indifferent cat).

ETA:  There was someone at my work giving away an 8 yr old papillon because they were mving into an apartment.  Come on, how hard is it to find a place that takes little dogs?  If we hadn't had Sally I would have taken the little guy.....

How could you do that to a CAIRN TERRIER???!!![:'(]

I hate when people say that their dog is friendly, and lets it run up to you, and your dog does not get along with other dogs!  (The other dog always seems to be on a retractable leash)

I hate people not picking up their dog's poop and people who buy Goldens and Labs because "They are so cute."  That goes for pretty much any dog, but mainly Goldens and Labs, I've noticed.

I also hate when Goldens and Labs are short, stocky, and fat!  That just goes to show how poorly those dogs are bred.  Oh, and also when Goldens and Labs bite and snarl.  And when Goldens are a really dark red like an Irish Setter and have white faces.  And when Yellow Labs are white!

I'm sorry if I make it sound like Goldens and Labs are the worst dogs ever.  They are not.  The world is full of perfectly nice and beautiful Goldens and Labs.  And believe it or not, these are my favorite dog breeds:
    1. Cairn Terrier
    2. Golden Retriever
    3. Collie

I agree that there are certain times when moving really does mean you have to give up your pet. I gave up my cats when I was 21 because I was moving. I wasn't comfortable telling strangers WHY I was moving, but if I had I don't think anyone would have blamed me for my choice. But I also made sure to find a really great, stable home (unlike mine!) that would keep them together and certainly didn't charge hundreds of dollars for them. So I'm sure sometimes "I'm moving to an apartment that doesn't accept dogs" isn't the whole story.
