• Anonymous Posted : 11/16/2006 9:49:38 AM I hate the CL ads about dogs being given up because the owner is pregnant.   me 2!! being someone who wants to have kids in a few years after I get married next year, I would never ever ever think of giving up my dogs because I'm having a baby! I dont see it being too hard to manage dogs and a baby, and once the baby is old enough, toss the baby in a stroller and everyone can go for a nice walk! • furma Posted : 11/16/2006 5:06:39 PM Some cases of moving, I think are okay to have to give a dog up. It's sad, but it's understandable. A job forcing a family to move is one. It's not always anticipated, especially if the family is in service and can't bring their dog, or all of their dogs, with them. My Malamute was the result of a family having to move because a family member was ill with a longterm disease and needed help, but they had to move in with the family member, and that person was allergic to dogs. They had three dogs and rehomed the other two together. Sometimes, things just don't work out for everyone. However, when someone is asking an outrageous price in return, it's a little sketchy, and almost rude, IMO. Just giving a dog up because you don't want it anymore isn't really acceptable to me, but, that dog is much better off with a new family where it is wanted, rather than where it's going to be treated like garbage. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • inne Posted : 11/16/2006 8:51:59 PM I agree that there are certain times when moving really does mean you have to give up your pet. I gave up my cats when I was 21 because I was moving. I wasn't comfortable telling strangers WHY I was moving, but if I had I don't think anyone would have blamed me for my choice. But I also made sure to find a really great, stable home (unlike mine!) that would keep them together and certainly didn't charge hundreds of dollars for them.
