I might have my first student for private lessons! I'm very excited. I went into work to check my schedule yesterday and a woman was buying a bark collar. I don't have anything against them, but they have their place. I asked the lady what the problem was and her daughter's dog barks at and tries to bite men. I told her that the collar would just make the problem worse by possibly making her dog be a silent biter...one that bites without warning. I told her about my classes and hopefully, she will come in for at least one. I have a feeling that the dog has not discipline in its life and gets to do what ever it wants. It is a rescue dog, so something may have happened to it in its first few months. It is very friendly with women she said. I won't know for sure whats going on until I meet the dog, but I have a feeling some positive reinforcement and obedience training will help quite a bit. I'm very excited about the challange. I told her about my dad's abused dog who used to hate all strangers and now she is the second most friendly dog at his house(next to the lizard lips Golden mix). By the end of the time I talked to her, she was already a bit more confident about the situation, which is going to help a ton.
