You guys...seriously just tell me

Not much help here.  We had three goldens, neighbors across the street did volunteer work for our little tiny local Humane Society branch said they had a dog they wanted us to see.  We said no, three was enough.  So what did they do?  They show up at our door with  a lady from the HS and this golden mix and one swipe of her pink tongue, one look into her chocolate eyes and we were snagged. $45 later we were the proud parents of a 4th dog.

Our vet is great about letting folks make payments, etc and that is always a help.  I never have a $0 balance.   I always  have a credit or owe..right now I have a $52 credit.  Go in and buy heartworm pills and wite the check for $25-30 more.  Go in and get Buck's thyroid pills, write the check for $10 more, Take Honey in to get rabis shot, pay amount or few dollare sextra.  Take Buck in for full blood panel and have a $60 credit and walk out owing $75.  later take in a check for $100, so got credit again.

We have never regretted adopting Honey and she is so crazy about us and it is as if she knew we did something special for her. We adopted her Dec. 7, 2002 and our precious Hunter died Oct. 16, 2003 and it sent his littermate sister KayCee into a depression---and Honey brought her out of it.  So having Honey come into our lives was a great thing---for us and for KayCee.  I am posting a picture of our adopted girl.  But i am not saying adopted the dog, just telling how it went for us.

You dont really expect me to tell you no do you?

    crap.
I just got an email from the lady from the shelter I got Ella from.
She used to work with Ella and when Furry Friends Foundation closed down she said that a few of the volunteers ventured off and are now opening their own shelter. Before she said that, she told me that she's heard some pretty not so good things about CBBR. Apparently they are HORRIBLE to foster for because a lot of people who adopted from FFF had fostered for CBBR and said they were terrible to foster for. Also, she said she believes that the city facilities do not transfer to them because they have questionable practices. Craaaazy. That is what she said. She recommended some other shelters. She said that since she worked with Ella and knows her, she said that if they get a dog in that she thinks would be a good "fit" for Ella then she'd contact me.

    Perhaps this is a sign.
I don't need any complications right now and since I don't have the money this second, perhaps I should wait it out.
    I don't know.

I personally think this is your best bet...whenever I have "rushed" into making a decision about a dog and let my emotions get me...I always end up having something go wrong (like they are too cat intereted and I have to return them).  Fortunatley my rescue lets me foster whatever dogs I am interested in so they can be with me on a trial...but trial or not it is always so HARD to let them go if it isn't the right fit.

I know there will be a fantastic pup for you out there![;)

I think you absolutely came to the wrong place. Where do you think you are? We're dog lovers! How can we tell you that you can't have that cute pup?!? [;)] If I was the voice of reason, Odin wouldn't be in my signature! (he came from an impulse search on petfinder)

Seriously, though, if it's not the right time for you financially or otherwise, it would be best for you, Ella and the other dog for you to wait. He looks like a great dog and I'm sure he'll find a home.

That I cannot have this guy here.

Okay. You can't have him. Now you return the favor and tell me that I can't have Oliver, in the thread "Poor Oliver" ([linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=195904]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=195904[/link]). Because I'm obsessing over him. How ridiculous is that?? The two who live here already have issues and can barely be around each other. And I want to add a third? My thinking is Oliver is only 7 months old, and Cherokee has always gotten along with other dogs if she first meets them when they're young. He might even help the Cherokee/Jaz dynamic. But yeah, I'm pretty crazy. [:D]

    Look, you get Oliver.
He would TOTALLY help the whole cherokee jaz dynamic!

He could, like, be the referee or something.
It'd at least give them something to focus on besides eachother for like...an hour.[:D]

Couldn't you introduce them to Oliver?

LOL! Exactly! It would so work!

He's like 2 hours from me. So I could go pick him up, and take Cherokee to make sure they were okay, but I can't really just run over there to introduce them.

If you are a college student I would have to say no to adopting another dog.  The humane society next to my college refuses to adopt out any animals to college students unless they are different than the normal college profile.
This may lead them to less adoptions but the adoptions they do make will be better than some poor dog getting left in a crate for a frat party or ultimately ignored or returned after the new wore off.

I'm no help.  LOL!  I look at Petfinder all the time, even though I cannot take on another dog (or cat) at the current time.  It's so hard to see these dogs and want them, but I know it's better than bringing them home, having it hate Roxie/Trixie/vice versa, and then having to return it or find another home.

Shelly made a good point, too.  If I go with my emotions, rather than my brain, things usually end up out of whack.  [&:]

Just an FYI- Rebeccas situation is very different than a normal college student. She is a loving mother, dedicated dog owner, takes online classes and has WAY outgrown the usual college student phase that you typically see.[;)]

    Oh!
    No, no.
I am a 29 year old college student who is engaged and a mother. My fiancee and I own our own home. I'm not a stereotypical, dorm livin', partying college student. Any dog I get, I'll keep for its entire life. And the joy is, while I'm a full-time college student, I only go on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'll be home the rest of the week. I love it.

But, unless that dog is there in January, I won't be getting him.[:(]
