US to Canada to Alaska w/dog?

I am considering spending some of the summer up in Alaska but I want to drive there with my boyfriend and my dog. Is there anything I need to know about going through Canada with my dog? Any kind of health certificate or papers like that I might need? I'll also have a new puppy by then, anything I would need for the puppy? (the father of the pup will be Canadian) It's still at least 7 mo. before I leave but just wanted to know. I've always flown up there in the past summers, never have taken my dog with me, but I want to drive this comming summer so I can take my dog.

Here's what you need for entering Canada:

It's just a rabies certificate from your vet.   It's not a big deal at all.   Dogs under 3 months do not require the vaccination.

    Thanks! [:)]

Giz doesn't mind travling, she has gone on some long trips with me but what should I know about travling with a puppy? I know I'll be asking a lot more questions once I get closer to that time but it's never too early to prepaire :) I'm a little worried it may be too stressfull on the puppy so I'm not sure if I really want to do this. Still trying to plan it all out. Before I know it the summer will already be here...

How old is the puppy going to be?

I've done a few road trips with Louise.   The first one was when she was just 4 or 5 months and she didn't seem stressed out about it.   First, the fact that she loves her crate and LOVES the car helps a lot.   She just settles down and sleeps.   I also found lots of spots along the way to let her out to play and potty.   There are those dog-specific travel sites that can help you find places to stay along the way, off-leash parks to go to, supply stores and vets, etc.   The obvious things would be getting your puppy accustomed to travelling in the car, taking a little mini-trip before hand and getting Rescue Remedy just in case, but I'm sure you've thought of all that.

That roadtrip is going to be beautiful!   I'm so jealous.

It really depends on when the dame will go into heat, sometime between Jan and March and I'm thinking of driving up there late summer Aug threw Sept. So at the yougest the pup will be about 2 1/2 mo. old. I deffently want to get the pup adjusted to travling because it will be a show dog but I'm a little worried that's too early for a long trip like this. From New Mexico to Alaska is going to take about a week and taking a pup across countries might just put it's health at risk also. Anouther option is go early summer befor I recive the puppy and only take my one dog.

I would love to move to AK but my boyfirend gew up there and moved out to NM to get far away from there. I'm still trying to convince him that at lest he has family there to help us out if we move. Was so close at one point.
