Everyone here has helped me so much! I feel like I have had questions in every possible category, and not one went unanswered.
 
It's so nice to know that there are people around the world you can go to if you feel unsure about something, or need a nudge in the right direction, or some support.

Actualy Xebby, you were the first one to help me on this forum.  Fuzzy_dogs_mom (I think thats how you spell it)  was also helpful, along with many other people.

Gosh…I think this is going to be a long one!![]
  I first found this forum while reading up on allergies and foods for allergy dogs. I was so welcomed and learned so much from Callie, Cathy and Jessies mom right from the beginning. Callie was so kind to call me long distance to help me work through so many allergy problems with JJ.[sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]  

In the nutrition area where I spend most of my time I have learned a lot from so many but I have to mention Sooner (the weblink goddess![]), Glenda, Chewbecca, Chelsea and Edie.  

Under Misc. stuff, I have learned so much from WillowChow, Dyan, Jennie and Gina.  

Training- Anne, Mudpuppy and recently from Houndlove who helped me out with clicker training.    

I have to thank Xerxes for all that he has taught me about my dogs and sighthounds in general…you are truly a wealth of knowledge Ed!  

Last but not least…I have to thank my TWO thread buddy Twin…not only for being as neurotic as I am about dog poop and feeding new food…but also for being such a good friend.. thanks Rachel![]   I know there are tons of folks I probably missed…but this was just off the top of my head!  Thank you i-doggers!![8D]

Hi...I am soooooo a newbie here but wanted to chime in and say that this place is really great.  All forums are bound to have their issues now and again, especially when the forum is as large and active as this one.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion....drawn to expressing easily via the forum...sometimes going overboard with their passionate self-expression because they're behind a computer screen.  I don't see a lot of issues here...I see a large group of supportive folks that love their dogs.
 
I, for one, am very glad to have been referred here by a friend.  There's so much going on here that I can't keep up! []

This place is an absolute goldmine of knowledge! I couldn't possibly name everyone - there are so many doggie gurus on here that even with a quarter of your helpful folk, this place would be awesome.

Also, thanks to all those who ask questions! Reading over threads is really great for a semi-lurker like myself (although I am beginning to post more).

Janet Gimblet - still a member, but not currently posting, she helped extend my dog's life with her advice.

Callie - same reason.  Plus I just love her posts.

Glenda - for her willingness to admit that she, like me, is an old broad.[]

mudpuppy, houndlove, fisher, mrv, and Mic when he was here for their concise, but scientifically accurate posts on dog behavior - sometimes they say just what I'm thinking, but more eloquently

Everyone else - for being concerned enough about the welfare of dogs to come here and chat in the first place!

Sadly, most everyone who helped me get through Rose's death are gone. I dare not ask for any more help here because I represent what most people that ost here consider the worst kind of dog owner - 24/7 outdoors, kibble fed, show dogs, possibly a litter being bred soon (I can sleep at night, not to worry) - and about the only help I can offer anyone is how NOT to raise a dog (Amber [sm=lol.gif]). Even when I post photos, pretty much no one even looks at them, so I'm not around much at all anymore. It was sad at first because I've been here for so long, and been through so much here, but it doesn't bother me much anymore at all. I check back occassionally when I've got time, but I don't even know many people here so I'm okay with it.

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry you feel that way.  I am always tickled to see your posts.  I don't get notifications on the pictures or I WOULD post about your gorgeous creatures.
 
And ya know what?  If you need suggestions, you just feel free to email me, and if I don't have the answer, I'll FIND it for you.  I MISS seeing you around.

 Jaime for riding herd on it and for linking me the page at dog.com to get Shadow a cooler mat. Since Shadow is a mix of two northern breeds, it's nice to have a way to keep cool in the blast furnace we call a Texas Summer. (In Texas, when we have days and weeks of over 100 F, we just call that August.) And, for letting me talk to her while we fixed my forum account. I had another email problem with my ISP and they assigned me a new email. As she said, it's nice to put a voice with the face.
 
Brenda (no longer here) for being the Lady of the Links and providing comparisons. Sooner for being our current reigning Lady of the Links. Anne, for being patient and providing training methods and tips that she would normally charge for. Glenda, for being a brave woman in a tough world and still making it all happen and will always be a doggy angel, to me. Except for the thing with snakes, you have more guts in your pinkie than most guys have in their whole body.

And certainly not least, Kennelkeeper. I am an unrepentent science geek, long hair notwithstanding. She has so much knowledge and the keenest scientific resources and I have change my opinions a few times based on what she has said or provided. Of all of us, she has had the widest experience with animals, firsthand, as a caregiver and rehabber, in addition to her academic pursuits, and the challenges of life we all face. She has observed and dealt with, firsthand, live and in color, many things from a White Bengal Tiger, to Grey Wolves, to the New Guinea Singing Dog, a modern prototypical canid similar to what became the dog. She's been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. And offers her experience as a manager of a working dog team, not all that different in needs from a sled dog team.

I'd also just like to say thanks to everyone whose helped me over the past three years.  I was completely new to dog ownership and had a LOT on my plate when we got Willow.  Her health and temperment were not good and I know without the help I received here I would of been lost.  I still want to share my news here when ever something happens with Willow and probably will for the rest of her life.  The new friends I've made seem to pick right up and care about her just as much as the older members and that is also so amazing to me.  That they would care so fast about a dog they haven't met or know history on. 
 
And it makes me really happy that now things are coming full circle and I'm able to share my knowledge and help others.  I didn't really see myself as getting to the point of answering the questions but it's happened.  Willow will never be an agility dog, or a therapy dog so I feel like this is in some way "her" way of giving something to others. []

This is going to be hard. I've been here on and off for almost two years.
 
Callie of course jumps to my mind first, because of course I have one of those constantly itchy dogs. She's helped me with Cherokee's allergies more than I could even have ever hoped, and TONS more than any vet (even the dermotologists) has. When Cherokee's having problems, I can't use the excuse that I don't know how to help her, only that I'm being lazy. []
 
Anne for helping me understand my dog. I thought I understood her before I came here, but now I realize I was so far off. And for telling me about clicker training.
 
Calypso, who isn't here anymore, also for introducing me to clicker training, and also for helping me with Cherokee's behavior. She had experience with her own dog being aggressive, and while it's helpful for someone to tell you what they've learned about aggression from books or other people's dogs, it's incomparable to hear things from someone who's been through it (and been through the worst of it. I believe her Beamish ended up being PTS after biting her husband).
 
Lilian, of course! For her wonderful website, plus the help she offered me when she was around. I remember one night Cherokee was literally tearing her paws to shreds, they were bleeding all over the place, and I was freaking out (to put it mildly), and she just told me calmly what I should do, how to do it, etc. And I'll never forget that.
 
Glenda, for being wonderful and handing out her dog food recipe to anyone who asks. She played a big part in my taking Cherokee off kibble when she really needed to get off it.
 
Lauri, who also played a huge part in me getting Cherokee off kibble, and for her great website. Plus for often being a voice of reason about nutrition issues.
 
Kelly, for always posting the most helpful links, plus for sharing pictures of Boomer and his crazy antics! []
 
Cathy for sharing her experience of her dogs who don't get along. One of these dogs would most likely have been injured by now if not for her advice.
 
Oh gosh, I can think of so many more people, but no one wants to read a mile of names, so I'll have to stop now. Everyone on this forum has been SO helpful to me, and just make it an invaluable resource. So thank you everyone!!

I don't really hold with singling people out on a forum to sing their praises because it's not fair to all the people that lurk and that kind of thing, so instead I'm just going to say thanks to everyone who made me feel welcome and to the folks with which I've had some great discussions.

Shew.. I'd have to say first of all, like many on here have already voiced, Callie.  My first post was a frantic one because our newest addition, Trixie, was given an accidental overdose of Ivomec and was completely blind and very lethargic.  Everyone I talked to over the phone (vet's office staff, etc) were telling us we're lucky she didn't die.  She has demodex and Callie has walked me thru the stages of treatment in order to get our little girl healthy and help her stay that way.  
 
I also have to say after that scare was over, I wandered onto the Rainbow Bridge section and found that I'm not the only one that felt so overwhelmed & completely heartbroken since the loss of my furry baby, FeFe.  For anyone that responds on that part of the forum either by telling their story or posting their sympathies to me and others that have gone thru a loss.... I thank you.  Who would have ever known we could get such support on a forum?  I had no idea.  We are blessed.

I LOVE your outdoor, kibble fed, occasionally foul tempered[] dogs! I just don't look at photos because I have dialup, and two dogs who cannot be in the same room without ripping each other apart, so time is limited.

And I can't WAIT to see little baby Salukis, from your house!
