Ron seems to know when to be Funny and when to Serious.

I would have to learn to use more smilies so that a reader can separate what is tongue-in-cheek from what is more serious. I am not a dog professional anything. But I read way too much and think way too much. Jaime, for example, works in a pet related industry and shows dogs. Spiritdogs is an actual professional dog trainer. Many here, such as Glenda and Sandra have owned and trained their dogs for decades. I have used shovels for decades and still can't find the starter switch.[:D]
The only thing I have going for me is temperment managament. I used to have a hair-trigger temper but learned to control it, and see different sides of the same coin. Somethings do get my ire. Abuse of another person or animal. A bully. Injustice.

Also, most people here have not had a problem with Jaime that we are privy to, but I think a few people here don't find me as endearing.

But thanks for the vote of confidence.

Besides, she is packed with knowledge. I can't figure out where she stores it all.

    It's in her medicine braid.

I once had a friend, 100 % Cherokee. Hair past his belt with a medicine braid in there.

I moderate another board, and I would be glad to help with rules, stickies, etc.  If you all are having problems with bots I can give you some signs of what to look for.

I haven't been here long, and I don't know a ton about dogs (that's why I'm here!) but I did help build up another (considerably more rowdy) message board.  Here are some of my ideas:

-A rules thread, stickied at the top of most sections.  It should tell you accepted behaviors/language, what will get you thrown off the board, a definition of flaming and spamming, how to do things like quote a reply, use a private message, so on and so forth.  List your moderator's names.

-In each individual forum, a Top 10 stickied thread with the most common questions, and links to the answers/good threads about them.  This will help reduce clutter.

-In NDR forum, a few stickies, such as "How was your day?" for general discussion about trivial day to day things, a birthday thread, a member pictures thread (we do ours with an index), a News thread, etc.  These reduce clutter.

I can give links to our rules section and such, just for ideas, if you want me to.  Hope this helps, and hope I'm not stepping on any toes.

    -Sarah

I'm glad you guys like my way of thinking, being a mother of two very wonderful children I have found that I get more interest/results when I'm not directly "telling" them what I want them to do but "asking" them for their thoughts and ideas which in turn makes them think and learn. I've been blessed with a different way of thinking out side of the box.

Thank you all for your compliments, I really do enjoy the forum and EVERYONE on it. Although I must admit, there are some days when I don't even want this job...LOL! We all learn and grow and learn some more if we're lucky

what I would do if I were Empress of the I-Dog board is make it so people MUST read and MUST agree with the rules (basic rules, the no spam, no obscenities, no attacks, etc--and delinate the expulsion process, too, succint and to the point) BEFORE they are allowed to finish their i-dog registration. They'd have to click a signature "I agree" box before i-dog would let them make a screen name, for instance.

There is one at registration, all of those who came over from the other format bypassed the registration process. It was pretty simple, in my thoughts and as those who made the move know we had bigger fish to fry at that time getting everyone back up and running because the transittion wasn't as smooth as we anticipated and along with change we were dealing with some personality conflicts within the membership. The sign up will be changed shortly to reflect a sterner set of rules for those coming onto the forum, it was just something that has been attempted but never finished, I've been wearing many hats here besides the forum along with "real" life that I haven't completed it.
I'm wearing a totally "new" hat now and have lost a few of the previous ones so next week will be the completion of the sign in rules. I'll be looking for input from you all when I get it finished for your personal tweeking and ideas.

Fortunately, I am WAY past the 34 year old age limit.  Not as far past it as you perhaps, but still, way past it.  [:)]

I was in San Antonio to see my baby graduate from Air Force basic training.  If you want to see a kid grow up quickly, have him join the military.  I was very impressed and frankly, am quite proud of him.

Congratulations, I bet it was a very proud and emotional event....even for you [;)]

Congratulations Bill, I am sure you are proud any pictures of the child in his uniform? I hate the way they grow up so quickly.
