Missing him

    Missing him

I had a amstaff.  He was a little blind and a little slow in the head but was the greatest part of my life.  I moved from a smaller center into a huge city.  When I did this I gave him (tanktank) up.  He ended up at a huge acreage with a great family and another dog that got along with him fantastically.  Some family members are home all day with him and the father takes him on truck rides.  He truly has a great home.  When I moved to the city I was going to a downtown apartment and am at work 6 days a week.  I didnt want tanktank to be stuck in an apartment all day when he could have the freedom he has on that acreage as well as 24 hour people interaction.  My point here is that I am looking for other dog owners to tell me I did the right thing because I cannot seem to move on.  Its been three months and I still cry about it.  Any input here would be great.  Thanks.

nice answer.  I come on a legit board asking a question because I miss the dog and you come up with an 8 year old schoolgirl answer like that.  Whats your problem?  Do I not qualify for this board because I dont have 1200 posts like you, your royal assholeness?  Can I not ask a legitimate question?  Go fuck yourself.  Geez now I feel better, what a coincidence.

I don't know what I was thinking.  I only hope that you find within yourself the capacity to forgive me.  Welcome to the forum.

OK folks, since I'm not sure that Jaime is back and at the risk of being accused of being a moderator wannabe....CUT THE CRAP.

Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is to rehome a beloved dog....I had to do that with one of my girls.  She is now the dog I KNEW she could be, without living in the shadow of my alpha bitch.

Now, as to that PM......avesher, that sort of stuff will get you in major trouble very quickly.  But, Billy, FWIW, I found your comment to be a tiny bit uncalled for as well.....in your initial post.

    Lets play nice now.

I'm not really sure what the value in this post is . . . if this individual is a troll (and I'm not saying they are) . . . guess what?  You just took the bait . . . .

I'm sorry about your dog avesher . . . . as glenda said, all we can offer our dos is the best life possible.  In most instances this is with us, but on occasion the situation arises where the best life for our dogs are with someone else.  It sounds to me like you made a good choice for your dog and actually had the dogs interests at heart instead of your own.

While the maturity level of the OP is perhaps in question, I'm not going to make a troll judgement based on a knee jerk reaction.  Come one Billy....you DID throw the first punch.

Now be a good boy and play nice....let me enjoy my valium haze please. [;)]

Really, I don't see anything unbelieveable in the OP.  I'm sure a lot of people have found themselves in the same situation.  John, you made a decision that you felt was in the best interest of a dog you loved.  Nobody can fault you for that. I'm sure you miss him very much, but you can move on knowing that he's happy and well cared for and will live out his days in a wonderful, loving environment.

I agree with Joyce (and I'm ignoring Billy, who for some reason acted so bizarrely) and I want to add that dogs CAN live in apartments and maybe you'd feel better if you proved it to yourself and got another dog. As long as you can walk your dog, she/he would be fine.

Lots of dogs do fine in apartments.

Seeing what the poster said to BJ, I would rather the person not be around anyway. I mean, the OP obviously has "problems"

I can assume this isn't a ****, for a minute, and play along.

And when he moves again, then what?

Angel, while I will not dispute that the PM was rather rude, so was Billy's first post...and his latest for that matter.  This is NOT the only thread that Billy has been a bit full of himself in.
    • Gold Top Dog
I will also add that I wondered WTH?? on Billy's first post. Didn't see a reason for the rudeness....if you don't have input on the actual subject, then don't answer. I got no troll vibe of any kind on the OP's post simply a post asking for reassurance...which you either give or you don't.

I also think that publicly posting a PM, while your decision...is really pretty immature behavior in and of itself. This entire thread is probably going to be removed or locked which is a real shame considering this MIGHT have been someone needing some actual input.

Someone once told me, when you see something one way and the rest of the world sees it another, the chances are pretty overwhelming that you are the one who is wrong.  If I was a bit presumptuous, I apologize.

Forgive me for being irritated with someone who gives away a dog because he is moving, then comes here looking for support.  To my way of thinking, moving is a pretty lame reason to give away a dog.  In retrospect, perhaps that is what I should have said.
