Neutering and the male perspective

this way off topic, but i lived in northern indiana for a short time as a child. from what i recall the people didnt have a lot of money and were a little backwoods, but all very, very nice people, give-you-the-shirt-off-their-back-even-if-you-didnt-need-it-nice. i don't recall any of them giving 2 cents about who you were or what you worshipped.

I also live in Northern Indiana.  I have met some very nice people (my husband, his family, my best friend for example), but I've also met the "type" of people who I didn't and haven't met else where. Of course, it could be worse in the Southern states, I've never lived south of where I'm at.

When I lived in Ohio, I lived in a small town.  That was much worse, socially, than a large town in Indiana.  Small town mentallity I guess.  But I've found that Indiana contain alot more "backward people" than the states I've lived in previously.

David Lee Roth is from Indiana. So is William "Axl" Rose. So is John Cougar Mellencamp. Some very talented people come from Indiana.

I've lived in KY, TN, VA, CA, OK and TX and spent a great deal of my childhood in IN because that's where my family is from . . .you can find ignorance, intolerance, apathy, and just plain meanness (with regards to animals) everywhere. However, on the topic at hand, I have read that there are a lot of unaltered animals in the southern states, perhaps stemming from a cultural bias?

I don't have any data to confrim or deny that. It might be interesting to note that a lot of puppy mills are in Missouri and Pennsylvania. And that mushers who breed Alaskan Huskies will cross anything with anything if it will create a faster, stronger dog.

At least with Missouri, I think that it has a lot more to do with the lousy economic situation than anything cultural, other than perhaps the farm perspective that expects animals to earn their keep.

I don't think that's true.  The ideology of some men transcends regions, so I would believe that any rural area with uneducated people would think this way.  Some town in Alabama with 500 people may see things the same way that a town of 500 in Oregon would.

My pup is not neutered and I do not plan on neutering him. I like the way he looks with his "balls." [;)]

I don't know why, but I'm thinking you must be between 14 and 17 years old, male, and have about a "C" average, if that.   The reason I say that is that you are probably in a similar situation to an adolescent puppy - can't think too well yet because the brain is being bathed in all that testosterone.

Wow! That was a heck of an assumption and a heck of an insult. BTW if you check her profile she's a female and has a Bachelor of Science. So unless she's lying she's basically shot your predjudice to heck.

Then she simply thinks like an adolescent male.  I'm appalled that any educated young lady would be so vulgar on a public forum.

Ummm, yes, balls is a rather crude word.

And actually, it isn't terribly accurate.  The vet saved Theo's for me.....yeah, I really couldn't have lived without seeing my dogs testicles....but thankfully he washed them off first.  Theo's were probably 1/3 the size they should have been, but then they were in the abdominal cavity and one was piggybacking a kidney. HIS looked sort of like water chestnuts....not perfectly round like a ball, but kind of egg shaped only with flatter spots if that makes sense.
