We have two! We have one HUGE Outward Hound one that is supposedly for overnight hikes, which we never do. We primarily have it as part of our emergency evacuation strategy (dogs come with, carry their own stuff). The one I use most often is made by Wolfpacks and it is their "saddle bag", and I use it several times a week. It's a good size for city day trips and acts as, yes, the "doggy diaper bag" with all their various things in it (and I'll admit, I make them carry my wallet and keys and my cell phone, which is funny when my dog starts ringing). It's also really highly adjustable and is a very simple design. Both dogs can wear it with adjustment (95 lbs and 55 lbs) and it doesn't have a bunch of straps and snaps and clasps and things. Just one velcro strap. Easy on, easy off. If you weight it even remotely evenly, it doesn't slide around.
I think you can only get these suckers online from Wolf Packs directly, and it ain't cheap, but I've just been pleased as punch with ours. We previously got a similar-looking one from PetCo and it was a piece of crap and broke before we even got out of the car for our first trip to the park with it.
This brand was recommended to me by people who have service dogs as the pack they use when their dogs need to carry items for them. I love it. Here's a picture (poor quality, taken with a camera phone) of Marlowe sporting it quite stylishly.
