    Meet Bailey!

Meet Bailey, hes new here.He is the dog i was talking about in a previous thread

I am not at all sure what he is maybe aussie/lab? He is a great boy! I would never have guessed he was 10! His teeth are a little yellow but are in excellent shape. His eyes are bright and clear and he has no trouble getting around. There does seem to be something not quite right in his hips/tail area. You can see it one of the pics hes a little "flat" and his tail looks like it may have been injured at some point. The head of the tail is not in the middle either.
My biggest issue i had with taking him in was that he was left at a boarding/grooming kennel. You would think that maybe he wouldve gotten a bath? Nope.I had a dog that rolled in s**t once,he smelled better.I had a dog that got sprayed by a skunk once,he smelled better.put both of thoes together and your getting close.I gave him a bath and scrubbed him with a zoom groom and it didnt help much.He was more than greasy, more like gooey. His nails are 2 inches long!! He also gave me no collar or leash to take him home. You cant tell me he was dropped off for boarding without atleast a collar.
Otherwise he is a very well behaved and friendly boy.Knows basic commands and loves kids!Once i get him clean he should look a little better too.

So nice of you to take this fellow in!

Where I board they do not want you to leave a collar or leash with the dog.  They use their own leashes and lasso the dog.  I think they don't want to deal with possibly losing some dog's tags.  So it is entirely possible he was left for boarding w/o those.

Was this a boarding kennel that prided itself on their care for dogs left with them?  Even when someone left their dog and never came to pick him up I would think they would have had more pride than to let him get that disgusting.  Pah.  Especially when people go in and out of their establishment, touring and stuff.  Grrr at them.

I think the better question is HOW did he get that way.Certainly not from being kept in a clean environment. They are kept in kennels and are not taken out to go to the bathroon and get no time outside. This is one place i will not ever be sending any business to.
I forgot to mention he also has no vet records for him.He says the owner showed them to him but then he had him take them home with him. This is not legal in this state. You have to have the record for all dogs boarding with you and keep copies for 7 years afterwards. Now i have a dog that has had his vaccinations but will have to get them again anyway. This isnt healthy for any dog let alone a senior.I think i am just going to get his rabies (for legal reasons) for now and wait on the others.

Welcome Bailey!  Always room for one or two (or three or so) more!

He's a handsome guy! It's great that you were able to find extra room for him. Hopefully you will be able to get him cleaned up, so he's easier to be around! [:)]

He is really a great boy! At closer examination we have found several large, strange moles,a lump on his hip about 1x2 inches and when you scratch him on his butt his tail goes perfectly straight to the left?I am very unhappy to have to spend the money to have a vet examine him and find out what is wrong with his back end his former owner probably already knows and could tell us if he hadnt just dumped him.It really looks like he was in some sort of accident at some time in his life and not just aging hip problems. If the boarding kennel had taken copies of the records we would atleast know who his vet was.

He's a lovely shade of chocolate. Good luck with the medical issues.
