    Mmmmm. . . . EARTHWORMS!

I'm convinced that Winston is better at finding earthworms than the birds . . . . he sniffs them out and gobbles em' up so fast!  He will wander the yard searching for them sometimes.  Does anyone elses dog do this?  Is it bad for them?

    P.S.  I don't think he's doing it because he's hungry . . . he'll still go worm hunting even if he's just eaten a big meal.

Bugsy eats all sorts of critters - bugs, worms, caterpillars, spiders, flies, etc
doesn't seem to bother him at all
heck humans in many cultures eat them

edit to say that he especially likes cicadas

Amy, OT here, but I just can't get over how much Kayla and Bailey look alike ... and how much they both look like Max.[:)] Do you know what kinds of dogs they are or are they just two little mutts that coincidentally happened to look a lot alike?

I've always noticed how Max and Bailey look a lot alike. Are they both mutts?

Kayla came from a high kill shelter so I really dont know what she was... we thought a lot of whippet and maybe some shepherd in there... heres a younger pic of her.  Thanks for asking about my angel.  Looking through the pics to post these made me cry, but in a good way... anyway, heres the love of my life as a puppy [:)]

Bailey reminds me of Kayla in the most amazing ways... shell give me a look and I know Kayla is speaking to me.  We did that a lot when I had Kayla... just stare into each others eyes and communicate... so I agree they look alike.  [:)]  Bailey will be bigger though, shes the weight Kayla was right now and shes only 9 months so we will see how big she gets.  Shes fun to watch grow....

Aina, I'm sure Max is a mutt.  The shelter said he was a GSD mix and I always thought the rest of him looked sort of yellow labby.  Funny thing is, one day over at the dog park I was telling someone that he was a shelter mutt and a man overheard me and insisted that "No, that's not a mutt.  That's a purebred." Umm. OK.  Purebred what?  Surely not lab.  Surely not GSD. Then he proceeded to tell me that he "knows his dogs" and Max is a purebred Southern Blackmouth Cur. That's a gorgeous breed, but very uncommon in this part of the country.  And I don't think anyone would let a purebred dog go wandering out on county roads in July, playing hide & seek with the big tomato trucks or languish at the shelter for 10 days without going to look for him. If you look up Blackmouth Cur on-line, you'll see pics that look enough like Max, Bailey and Kayla to be their twin.

Back on topic now. ( I've also wondered about how similar the two looked)

Worms, yum, With Giz it was grasshoppers and she sure did eat a whole lot, now they are dieing as the cold is comming in.  I was even worried over her eating them.  I wouldn't think worms are bad at all for a dog and if you don't mine the digging then it should be fine.

I suppose mine are more teasers than eaters (at least one is). She just absolutley loves to grab some critter like a grasshopper and just let it crawl in her mouth, spit out, and repeat! ewww!
