    Help??

We have had kian now, coming up for a year, last week, he got out of the garden twice, we had a hole in our fense due to vandals, he ended up at the pound, we paid to get him back & he needed a bath & flea medication, then he got out again, but not sure how as could see anywher, as to how he got out, so we paid to get him back again & the state he was in from being at the pound again!! AND, they blammed us for not caring about him, orderd us to take him to the vets asap, which we did any way !

After two more baths & more flea medication, the pdsa officer knocked on my door saying they had complaints from the pound he was being ill treated, well i was very rude to the man how dare he say we are ill treating him, when he came back from the pound in worse state than arriving there! & if we were ill treating him then why would we pay £80 each time to get him back, then£130 vets fees to put him back to happy health,

Now they are cheaking up on us a few more times, surely they can see he is happy & healthy, some ppl dont care but still keep animals, there home smells for having animals, but they are not cheaked on, makes me so angry that there are more needy animals out there, yet they are wasting there time here,

Run a hot wire on the inside of your fence perimeter to keep your dog from going through the fence. I know they're a pain in the butt, but they don't know you from Adam so don't take their distrust personally (being rude to them did not help BTW). Prove to them you're not one of those bad dog owners and they'll leave you alone eventually. They're only doing their jobs. And it is a thankless job in general.

what breed of dog is he, she? And you could try getting on the outside of your fence and call him, you may need a couple of people to help you.this way you can see how he gets out.

If Kian is a male have you got him neutered, that maybe an idea, it does not always work, I had my terrierx nuetered when he was about two has he kept escaping and he stopped wandering, it works for some, the hot wire is a good idea you can buy smaller ones that just run of a battery. I have also seen ones that are specifically designed for dogs.

Provided he's a not a chihuahua I'll give the same advice I was given about which wire to use; don't use the one for dogs, use the one for livestock.  And quite right, mine is on a battery charged....thingy.

How long was he in the pound for to get in such a state?  Is his collar and tag details up to date so that they can contact you immediately he's found?

Think you need to keep rechecking your fencing and maybe keep a watch on him when he is out there.

Im surprised that it was a PDSA person usually it would be the RSPCA who undertake that sort of thing.

How do they know it's a waste of time? Surely it's better to do a thorough job when it comes to a dog's well being?

does the dog live outside? if so using a line on a runner may be more effective means of keeping your dog from escaping. however if he/she is just let out for bathroom breaks and exercise i would suggest staying out with the dog until its time to go in.

as for the pdsa, it is their job to investigate every single claim, if you care for your dog as well as you claim it should not be a problem to prove to them the claims against you are false. and as posted previously, it will do you no good at all to be rude to them.
