very great info thanks,  she looks very much like those flowered shar pei's,   she is very muscular thouh do shar pei's have that much defined muscle?  ill try and take a picture

Yup, they can have muscular bodies. To me, your girl's body looks like the first Shar Pei pictured in my post above. The shortest coat length (horsecoat) shows their body definition the best. Your girl has longer legs, tail, and body than Shar Pei usually have, so I think she's probably mixed with one breed or another. Other than that, she really resembles the traditional type of Shar Pei that had a "bone mouth". The "meat mouth" is much more common now. See link below with ;pics of dogs that have a muzzle like your girl's.

Horsecoats also tend to have a leaner build like your girl. Brushcoats usually have heavier bone and are stockier. But, the easiest way to tell them apart at first is by looking at the tail- horsecoats have a "naked" tail and brushcoats have a bushier tail. If you're interested, here's some info on the two accepted coat lengths for Shar Pei, brushcoat and horsecoat:

There's also a third coat type that is a disqualification in AKC, the bearcoat. They resemble a Chow. The site below has some really cute pics and a lot of good info!

The HORSECOAT is the original coat for the Shar-Pei. IT is very short and off standing. It is usually less than ½ inch in length and can cause people to get a rash as it is very prickly. One distinctive feature of the horsecoat is the tail. IT has very little hair like a rat#%92s tail.

Also the shar-pei has very thick skin. The vet I worked for complained whenever he had to surgeries on these dogs because he said the skin was very thick like pig's skin with a layer of fat just under it. It makes it very difficult to suture an inscision back together. I guess that might be important if your dog ever needs surgery.

That is great that you are able to give 6 dogs a good home.  A lot of people can't.  I think she is defiantly a shar pei mix.  Good pictures of your pack.

I'm going to try one more time to post a picture....if it shows, it's a closer picture of the same dog in my avatar..Witt. I know his mother is a Catahoula and assume based on his muzzle and ears that there has to be some Shar-Pei in there. It's the same ear set as your dog =)
The ticking comes from a specific gene which could help you narrow down some breeds...but really, there could be a bunch of stuff in there. I love to play the guessing game though.
Do your dogs ears go up and way out to the side when she thinks she is in trouble? We call this "flaps up" with Witt.
She is a very unique girl..whatever she is.

and a boring one of him standing outside my work.
