Me again, asking for more prayers

Glad to read the good news.  Get some rest, Glenda.

That's great news.  I'm so glad to hear it.  I'll still be keeping you all in my prayers - get some rest if you can.

Great news, Glenda.  Fantastic outcome. When DH had his bypass, the doctors said OK to showers but no to baths (he prefers baths) because they didn't want him to pull/push on anything with his arms.  I put one of those white plastic yard chairs in the shower for him and it worked fine.

Then I think he'll be alright. My old friend, Tony, not the one here, had a cousin named Stan who had the same problem. He got an angioplasty and then changed his lifestyle. He quit clubbing, quit smoking, started eating healthy and exercising. The following year, he completed a 26-mile bicycle marathon. He went from having a few months to live to that.

Glenda - I am sorry to have just seen this!  We are praying for your family.  I will tell my extended family to start praying too...  Keep strong, but don't feel bad if you need to lock yourself away for a little while to just let it all out.  You have had a lot to handle lately...  More than anyone should have.  We are all here for you.

The funny thing is, we don't really drink...not that we are opposed or anything, but we *might* have a drink 2 or 3 times a year, and we've been doing heart healthy diet for at least 15 years, and the diabetic part for the last 8 or 10..... Uncontrolled diabetis is damaging to the heart, yes, but we've been able to keep it very nicely under control with diet and exercise and one little pill.  However, after we moved to MI, exercise became much less consistent primary because of the dreadful hours he worked.  Now that the hours are so much better, we're out of the habit, but will get INTO that habit really quickly.  I'll not push this week.....he needs time to build back up slowly and for now the 400 feet each way to get the newspaper is probably enough.  By this weekend tho, he's going to join me in walking the dogs in town...not that he has to walk anyone but himself, but I do want to get him out.  And I'll have to figure out from there just what I can do to get him some daily exercise that counts.

I'm really impressed that he's been able to just put the butts down and walk away from them.....him not smoking will make it easier for me to quit ALL the way....but I really don't think 4-5 a day is awful considering what I was smoking!

Genetics of course plays a huge part in all this and there isn't a lot I can do about that except to do my best to counteract it in other ways.

I am just hugely relieved that this is over and that it went sooooo very well.

I'm glad the surgery went well and they've taken care of the blockages. The fact that he's stopped smoking will help tremendously. You've been through so much; try to get some rest.

Glenda, I'm late with my post.  I'm glad to hear Todd's procedure went well.  I hope you're both getting plenty of rest and feeling calmer now that it's behind you.  What a relief for both of you!  Sending good wishes for a smooth recovery for Todd, and good luck with your continued successes with kicking the habit!

He's got some pretty impressive bruising.  So extensive in fact that I called the doctors office yesterday and was assured that it's normal and she also told me what to watch for.  The bruise started pretty small....by Thursday morning, it was a couple inches wide and from a line with his hipbone on the thigh almost to the inside of the thigh......yesterday morning it had spread to about 5 inches wide!  By the time he came home last nite, well, the sucker is sneaking down the inside of his leg and is halfway down to his knee.....and that's all normal according to the cardiologist.  My Mom had a ladylike little bruise the size of a half dollar......so THIS bruising is a bit of a surprise!  But normal they say.

I think that to be safe my sister will likely have an additional test done by the cardiologist who saved her sons life, but the cardiac surgeon HERE told her that she doesn't need to do a thing about the hole in her heart.....she's in excellent condition, being an athlete and not a slug like some of us.....and all the other risk factors are just non-existent in her.  So that is a HUGE relief......

I'm glad to see you Callie!  Hope your visit is going OK.....

Yesterday we found a great fenced area...quite by accident after checking on our little stray friend.....we discovered that the elementery school has this HUGE city block area fenced in and just a small portion of that is the actual playground.  So, we took the dogs THERE instead of doing an actual walk, and let them chase the ball and stuff.  By the third group Todd was getting tired and didn't argue when I took the keys away from him for the trip home.  But since there was soooo much space away from the swings and stuff, the dogs got some great off lead time safely, and Todd didn't need to do as much walking.  Apparently this is not a problem with the village since 3 police cars went by when we were there and TWO of the officers just waved a hello.......so we've found a cool place AND the dogs got their "walks" without wearing out the old man!
