Is AKC teaming with Petland?

PW...I am in DFW....there are plenty of UKC shows...Texas and Oklahoma both.....I believe there are at LEAST 4-6 or more per annum...and a few of those are 4 show events with 2 shows per day...the Texas Classic for one. That's not counting Oklahoma, Norman has I believe 2 or 3 per annum. You can finish your dog in a weekend in a 4 show stint...so there don't have to be many...if you want to Grand that can take a while. There is usually Group competition for Herding as there are usually Aussies and Corgis shown and Shelties & Cattle dogs too.

So if you want to show UKC it's definitely doable...Denton has 2+ per year and then there's the GREAT shows and the GREAT venue in Hutto which I think is once or twice a year...and Conroe...and LaGrange Texas...

there's an Allbreed in Denton on October 28..you could likely still add your breed to Conroe in Nov. and another all breed in Hutto in Dec [:)]

RW: Really? Cool! (BUt grr, why do none of the local events calenders I have list these! They have the ASCA stuff!) Where can I find a calender for all these?

(Also, anything on puppy matches? Want to try and get Mal to at least one match this fall.)

I got this from a friend a few days ago. Very disturbing, which makes me even happier that I dual register and show my dogs in UKC as well.

I got her before Gina, so I'll toss this out there for you.  Here's the link for UKC Events: [linkhttp://www.ukcdogs.com/ConformationEvents.htm]http://www.ukcdogs.com/ConformationEvents.htm[/link]

You look for HERD, which means that all herding breeds can be shown.  If it lists individual initials for the breeds that can be entered, look for COL.  If it's not listed, contact the show chairman and ask if they will add Collies.  (Unless there's only one breed listed, and then it's probably a breed specialty).   The shows are usually held by a breed club, as opposed to a kennel club like they do in AKC, so for example you'll have all breed judging at a show given by the American Eskimo club.

I have to do this in my area - there are lots of shows, but we're the only Collies that show UKC in this area, so they weren't on the list before in a lot of them.  Many offer a puppy class (listed as NLC - Novice Puppy) which would be like a match - just for fun.  It's at a reduced fee and you don't compete with the older dogs.

PWC just stop by the UKC website [linkhttp://www.ukcdogs.com]www.ukcdogs.com[/link] and tab onto Conformation then UPCOMING EVENTS...you can sort them by state clicking on the links in the upper right corner.

Most of the all breed shows have a non licensed class for puppies. No points but the judging is the same.

Luvntzus, people are not supposed to put things like mascara on the dog, it's against th rules.  They do it anyway.  Unless it comes off on the judge's hands, nothing can be done about it.

Also, now that I think about it, if you met him right before he had Mystique, chances are the dog you saw him with was the great Covy-Tucker Hill's Manhattan, aka Hatter.  GREAT dog, and the only GSD to win Westminster.

That's a neat site. I like that they have a hunting dog program. Too bad the AKC is throwing their integrity. I can't see how the AKC can survive teaming with a puppy mill. How can anyone have value and pride in their AKC titles if some mill can crank out and win with dubious breeding?

I would imagine most exhibitors would rather pay an increased fee and maintain the credibility of the titles than to see the standard lowered.
