How did your dog get it's name?!?

Darby (Poodle)- He came to me as a rescue and was named Romeo..there was no way I was going to call him that at 5 AM and have my neighbors thinking I was desperate, so I changed it. I chose the name from the old movie Darby O'Gill and The Little People.

Dooley (Aussie X)- We let friends and family name him from a baby name book..this was my husbands idea and will never happen again lol. The name was actually supposed to be Dually as in a truck but because we named Darby an Irish name they changed it to an Irish spelling. The name does seem to fit for him..he is now referred to as Dooley The Wiggle Butt Dog.

Witt (Catahoula X)- I named him after a handsome cowboy I saw at a Rodeo..just that simple.

Annie(Aussie X)- She came to us as a temporary foster named Cheyenne, when it was clear she was staying, we changed it. None of us thought it fit her very well and we figured she needed a new name associated with good things rather than the life she had had. We didn't want to use a name that had probably been screamed at her countless times. We wanted to keep it similar sounding so it became Annie. Anna Banana, Little Orphan Annie (she is red merle) and Annabelle all are names she comes to now. Hooker is also a nick name she has attained..thats a whole 'nother story!

Shadow (boxer x) - we took her from a friend who could no longer care for her about 4.5 years ago. Her name was already Shadow, no use in changing it.

Buck (boxer x) - I named him this. I have a history of picking random names off the top of my head to name pets. This was one of those such random names. Besides, he looks like a Buck. :)

Crusher got his name from a list I had made up.  BF got to pick the one he liked best and he picked Crusher.  Ice Crusher I guess.  He's a sled dog and I wanted to stay away from the common husky/malamute names like Nanook and Tundra.  Onyx is mostly black, which is not a usual husky color, so I found it fitting.  Plus my son is a Pokemon fan.  We did a Disney theme for a while when I was younger.  We had a Cinderella(my pint sized princess), and Ariel, a Belle(cat), Sebastion(mouse), Rajah(hampster) and an Abu(another cat).

Once my cousin found a baby seagull and brought it home.  I asked him what he was going to name it and he looked at me like I was stupid and said," Steven".  Duh...  Steven Seagull...What else would you name a seagull?

Well, I already posted about how we named Sadie after the song "Sexy Sadie" on the Beatle's White Album.

Well yesterday we rescued a stray from my husband's shop. I took her to the vet and she is already spayed and there was no microchip. She is basically an abandoned dog, according to the neighbors.

Anyhow, she appeared to have the name Sadie. Well we can't have two Sadies, so while I was driving her around yesterday, I started calling her Sudie-Sue, just to play around. Well by the time I got her home, Sudie seemed to have stuck. My husband seemed to go for it as well, so now we have a Sadie and a Sudie.
