Behavorist or Trainer?

• Behavorist or Trainer? denise_m Posted : 8/31/2006 4:54:10 PM We had a very interesting conversation at the dog park today when someone suggested an owner seek the help of a dog behavorist (behavoralist?). Someone else said a trainer. We all thought we knew the difference but it soon became obvious that no one was exactly sure. So I said I'd clarify and report back tomorrow. The general thought at the park was - a Behavorist is a Trainer who specializes in behaviour issues like aggression, fear etc. A Trainer specializes in teaching commands. From reading posts from trainers and behavorists on this forum that doesn't sound accurate to me. Can someone explain?
