• gayle Posted : 8/31/2006 1:10:49 PM its not over yet but my daughter wanted me to change it..thank god,  every time i watch it i get all sad, the happy dogs make me sad becuase despite living there they are still happy, and the sad dogs are even worse, they make me think of what my dog would look like if he was in there. that show is horrible! its like a bad accident you cant look away from, and in truth it really is a bad accident. and its b.s. that it all could be prevented so easily. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • houndlove Posted : 8/31/2006 1:13:42 PM This is totally the Catch-22 of shelter volunteering too. Naturally the people who should volunteer love dogs. Yet, their love of dogs make seeing all the shelter dogs really sad and draining. It's nearly impossible to retain volunteers very long, and every time I try to recruit one of my friends (all animal-lovers), they just kind of sigh and say they could never do it. • gayle Posted : 8/31/2006 1:24:38 PM man do i understand that. they always say on the show to come down and help out, they will even just let you play with the dogs if thats all you want to do. i wouldnt mind cleaning up the poop and cleaning out the cages, and i totally would play with all of the dogs until they kicked me out. once i get my car fixed (its been a few months arghh) i plan on helping out at the local shelter, but i understand why no one wants to do that job. it is going to eat me alive to go home every day to my spoiled loved doggy knowing all those dogs are just as good and that no matter what i do some of them will have to be put down. my mom already hates me because i constantly tell her she needs this pet or that pet from the shelter. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
