    bones, chew toys, etc...

my -staffy Kira has been going through all the toys we get her... so i need some suggestions?
nylabone - she destroys one in less than 3 hours, throws up some pieces later
stuffed toys - she loves them, but of course destroys them and gets stuffing all over the place, but fun to watch
kong - destroyed a red, halfway done with a black one
tyre/tire toy - destroyed in about 1 week, eats some of it, throws some up...
other rubber/plastic toy - she ate an entire soccer ball/rope toy, threw it up over the course of a week...

So, I am in need of something new.... any ideas.... i'm looking for something that lasts a good amount of time...

Maybe try these Hardcore Firehouse dog toys.. at this link:http://www.jefferspet.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=0&pf_id=0029300

Hm, maybe it's not the toys that are the culprits! MoJo used to be the exact same way. He was too intense with his toys, felt like he needed to eat them all. Kong, basketballs, etc. - all destroyed - so we'd keep buying toy after toy. We eventually tried supervised play ONLY.. everytime he started to get too intense and destroy his toy, we stopped him, went through the "no"s, and initiated playing again. If he was insistent on chewing, we traded the toy with a bone for supervised chewing. Now we can leave MoJo's toys out to play with at his own discretion. He just needed to learn- maybe Kira may, too?? I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to try. One reason dogs incessantly chew up toys is because their people aren't playing with them when they want / as long as they'd like. It can be because they're bored. But it can also be very dangerous to ingest toys as they can block the dogs' intestines or dehydrate them as they're throwing up over the course of days. Yowch! [:'(] That's one of the main reasons we began supervised play with MoJo.. and not having to do what we call "poop surgery" with outcoming pieces of toys. Yuck.. not the most pleasant experience for EITHER of us.. [:'(]

    Best wishes!! [:)]

I agree.  The chewing/playing with toys should be supervised only.  Eating/throwing up the toys can be potentially dangerous.

Tyson always prefer that we play with him anyway.  If we left him to chew on his own, he would def. destroy any toy we put in his path, and gladly!

The suggestions that Anya gave are certainly good ones.  Follow her advice, and you should be fine.
As soon as you see that she is starting to destroy it, take it away, tell her no, play with her with it, etc.

    good luck!
