Sometimes those threads to get a little old, but the ones that are starting to really drive me nuts are the ones that start out "My dog has been puking and having bloody diarrhea for a week. What's the matter with him? Do you think I should call a vet?" Ummmmm. If you had a kid that had these symptoms, would you not be running to a doctor?

Oh, geesh, Try working at a pet store. They think you're a free vet and then get really nasty with you when you don't know the answer. Or you recommend something that didn't work. Or worse yet, you know what the dog's problem is and the people won't do anything to fix it. Either they can't afford it, or it's just a dog, or worse yet, they're spoiling the dog dead. "We can't not give the dog his favorite snack that's making the dog vomit, cause you know that would just be cruel." Or "I wouldn't want to starve him by following the feeding instructions."
Here's one horror story. This lady came in with a very over wieght golden retriever that I would have sworn he was at least 10. He had cateracts, joint problems, coat problems, really brown teeth, and smelled.
The lady wanted a diet dog food that her dog would like. I asked her what she was feeding before - Purina Moist and Meaty you know, the play-do like stuff that comes in strips and is all different colors and loaded with sugar and salt. Even the package says great for training treats larger than it says dog food. I showed her how Moist and Meaty is not a good food and could be the cause of the skin and obesity problems. But she was not very attentive. I recommended Chicken Soup Senior, low in calories and by the way the dog acted and looked I thought it was old. The whole time I'm talking to the lady, she is distracted by everything. Other dogs, she'd pick up products on the shelf and while I was trying to explain to her why this food is good she kept interupting with unrelated questions. Then right in front of me, she picked up a handful of bulk treats and threw it on the floor for her dog to eat. Her dog gobbled them right up, so apparently he wasn't as picky as she said he was. Now we don't mind if you give the dog a sample, but a handful, right in front of me. Come on lady!
After all of this, she bought a box of Purina Moist and Meaty. Why did you even ask me if you weren't going to listen.
Then before she left, I over heard the cashier ask how old he was. She probably thought he was elderly too. He was 2[

People are wonderful.
