You are all going to get me in serious trouble

Before I joined this forum, I will admit I had a pretty short list of my "favourite" breeds, and they were all large or giant breeds.  Labs of course, Saints, Newfs, Sibes - and mixes of any such breeds.

Here's the thing - I want ALL your dogs.  Thanks for various people on this board I now want frenchies, pugs, tzus, cockers, beagles, bassets, akitas, chows, greyhounds...and maybe a maltese and a pap for good measure.  Not to mention all of the gorgeous mixes around here. I ONLY HAVE ROOM for 1 dog!  That situation will change next year but even then there is NO way my SO will let me have one of everything.

My partner I am happy with...."thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's DOG" is, however, becoming a problem for me.

You all have a lot to answer for.  [sm=biggrin.gif]

My little monster says "thank you for being so kind!"

Maybe you can borrow a different breed every once in a while to mix it up a bit.  You know, trade Ben for a couple days.  Then you'd still really only have 1 dog.

    LOL [:D]

How about a new "career" like:

    dog walker
work at a different rescue a week
    become a groomer
become a  trainer (I am sure you can find lots of advice on training in the current 13 pages of the Ceaser Milan debate!)  [;)]
    become a vet tech

I am sure there has got to be other jobs you could do for your new career. . . What else do they have in England?? [:D]

Just a thought, maybe you could get into a foster program.  You will foster many dogs and then find them a home, so in a way you will own sevral breeds but only for a short time.  To add to that your helping keep them out of the shelters and help in the transition of changing over to a perminate home.

WELL, that makes two of us in trouble!!  Let me know how you get by with having one of each, maybe I can do the same thing and hubby won't even notice! [;)]

*Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's dog* never made it into the original 10, so you get a pass on that one. [:D]

My husband was raised in a house without any animals-let alone dogs-his mother felt that they were dirty and spread disease.  At present we have three in residence, and the smallest one is about 60 pounds all the way up to the Irish wolfhound at 160lbs.  With our children came other furry waifs-we have had mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, cats-all travel throughout  our home. At times he looks long suffering, but can't manage a better pout than a hound with its nose out of joint...And you do find him with a dog on his lap while watching the Sunday football, so...give it some time-in the meanwhile fostering might be a great way to get the SO to accept multiple animals in the house on the short term

You have an incurable case of dogitis.

I wish coveting was my only sin....I had zero dogs 2 1/2 years ago, and now I have six.  What's worse, I have assembled my pack 13,000 miles from home and will have to fly them all home at the end of my husband's tour here.

If you know the cure for this disorder, please share it with me.

After our third dog found it's way into our hearts and home, dear Hubby just about made me sign a contracted of "that's IT!"
However, he didn't say anything about a Grand-puppy!!!!  When my son moves into his own house soon....I'll be crushed.  Wish he was a failure to launch..

I completely feel the same way.    My husband and I really want to get a Great Dane in a few years, but now I also want a GSD, an Elkhound, and a Pharaoh Hound.   I have discovered, though, that when you have a dog you're allowed to hang out with and pet all the dogs you want at the park, so I can pretend to 'have' all these dogs for a while every day.

Cindy, tell you son that after he moves you are going to head over to his house on a daily basis to check on the dog, make sure he's fed, walked, not lonesome, etc.  That will probably be enough to make him decide to leave the dog with you. [:D] That's exactly how I got my previous dog.

This is one reason I volunteer at the shelter.  I can only have ONE dog (or NO DH! LOL) so this is how I get my other dog fix.
