Please read - about getting involved against puppy mills

Ron's idea of asking them to do some kind of ad campaign is a really good one. In the other thread people like Madson were mentioned. How about writing directly to them? Presumably they have fan clubs, sites and so on. There should be a few celebrities who are into animal rights and welfare.

Also how about some of the talk shows? The point of a 1000 emails making them take notice was the point I think of the whole exercise - 1 letter is ignored, in bulk it is harder to.

Dyan's idea of a list of email addresses makes a lot of sense. It makes it easier to see who is involved and to have a rough idea of how many mails are being sent. Should we do this on here, a separate thread or a yahoo group? Whats preferable? Did anyone get a chance to call that number at Pfizer, I am not sure if it was still valid.

I have so many emails and things I want to do SAVED for myself that I forgot to call that number. I will do that today and write back later.
I almost think,,,that if we concentrate right now on finding which celebrities are helping out animal rights...and maybe get some addresses of all the talk shows...we could narrow this down to all of us heading in the same direction for now.  I will see what I can do today to come up with some addresses.
I don't know how to start a Yahoo group,,,,it took everything I had to join the couple that I am on.... I did ASK a friend who started one, but she had someone do it for her.  I can start another thread just for email addresses, but people maybe don't want to put their email addresses out there for everyone....maybe it could be a "sign-up" type thread...if you sign up, then we could at least  PM you or send thru your profile??????????   What does anyone else think?

I did call the number. It is the number that goes to the whole animal health section of Pfizer.  I was put on hold and after a while I hung up.

My daughter just woke up.  If anyone has any ideas, PM me.  I probably won't be able to get past "just created" until sometime tomorrow afternoon when she naps again. [sm=happy.gif]

I have never heard of this forum....but I think that would be a great idea....does anyone know how to start it? Then we could have a place that everyone that is interested in helping could meet...including people from other forums.

OH man,,,,,,, so while we are trying to figure out what to do to help these poor dogs in puppy mills...Hunte Corp. is getting ready for their next big gig!!!  Check it out!
    [linkhttp://www.huntecorp.com/breeder/register.asp]http://www.huntecorp.com/breeder/register.asp[/link]
This would presumably be the event that Pfizer sends their vets to,,,,to help the puppy mills produce more puppies to sell.

I have been reading and reading,,,,all of the links that Sergio listed above..... I have things saved in different places in my computer...its getting confusing.
I wonder if anyone else has had a chance to read the links.  So informative!  Each link had many links inside,,,,,,,,,I wish I had more time.

For the lack of knowing what to do,,, I have joined a new forum that is for stopping puppy mills. Many there have been working at this for years.......and know what works and what don't work.  Right now I am reading, reading, reading.    Much information on the Hunte corp. There is even complaints where Hunte was transferring puppies in conditions that were against policy..and I believe they were sited for them...   I'm hoping to learn something there that I can bring here.
If anyone is really interested in helping,,,,,I suggest you join it also,, its free..but you must join to read what all the posters are doing.  [linkhttp://www.nopuppymills.com/index.php]http://www.nopuppymills.com/index.php[/link]

    Wow!! Good work Sergio!!!

I hope for a start,,,we call all sign those petitions...they were already created and fast and easy to do.

Ok now this will probably sound silly but who do you write to if you want to get a law passed against selling animals in pet stores? In the States would that be at the local state level or higher?

My guess its the local states. Hopefully someone knows this answer.

dyan, any citizen can ask their state rep to file such legislation.  It helps to have a draft legislation that they can work from.  If you like the proposed PA or OH legislation, use it, even if it hasn't passed yet - you are just giving them a template to use.

Your right Anne,,,that is what we need to do...make a template type letter.  I haven't done that as I'm not really good at putting together an intelligent sounding letter. I personally shot off emails to my senator and reqresentative who either are listed as supporting  our HB606 bill..(thanking them) or asking why they are not where their name is NOT listed.     Maybe I can find somthing on the Internet to help.

    [blockquote]
Dear Companion Pet Lovers ~[font="comic sans ms, cursive, helvetica, sans-serif"]The August 26 Buckeye Dog Auction represented one of the worst experiences I have ever witnessed!  300 dogs were sold at a cost between $25-$450 (this is very low compared to last year).  The staging area (entrance to the auction in which buyers can "view the livestock") smelled like a cesspool.  The majority of cages lacked, food, water and were covered in feces.  All the dogs were scared and shaking - a truly heartbreaking sight.  What distrurbed me the most was the number of dogs immediately registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) following the winning bid.  I cannot imagine that any of these breeders are improving the health, temperament and quality of purebred dogs.
Several rescue groups were awarded dogs which were surrendered by the auctioneers.  All of them were in a severe state of neglect, one of which included a beautiful four year old German Shepherd who was missing a good portion of the lip ;protecting her jaw.  The Shepherd is now in foster with me, my husband and our "Shaver 4" (three rescue collies - one a mill rescue - and a rescue sheltie).  Thanks to the wonderful care received from the team at Animal Hospital of Polaris - [linkhttp://www.animalhospitalofpolaris.com/]http://www.animalhospitalofpolaris.com/[/link], Sasha will be ready for adoption within the next couple of weeks (see attached).

I am more committed than ever to following Pennsylvania's lead in shutting down these type of auctions!  I will be working diligently with the support of local rescue groups, state legislators, Best Friends Animal Society - Animal Law Coalition - [linkhttp://network.bestfriends.org/animallawcoalition/news/7146.html]http://network.bestfriends.org/animallawcoalition/news/7146.html[/link], Pasado's Safe Haven - [linkhttp://www.pasadosafehaven.org/]http://www.pasadosafehaven.org/[/link] - and the dedicated volunteers of Holmes County Humane Society -[linkhttp://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH327.html]http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH327.html[/link] - to help end this worst form of animal cruelty.
As of the date of this letter, 2,205 concerned citizens from around the world have signed a Petition expressing their outrage over this auction - [linkhttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/846327093]http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/846327093[/link].  If you have not done so already, please take a moment to support us in this effort.   And feel free to cross post.
Thanks in advance for your kind consideration.
