Subject: UPDATE: August 26 Buckeye Dog Auction
[blockquote]
Dear Companion Pet Lovers ~[font="comic sans ms,
cursive, helvetica, sans-serif"]The August 26 Buckeye Dog Auction represented one of the worst experiences I have ever witnessed! 300 dogs were sold at a cost between $25-$450 (this is very low compared to last year). The staging area (entrance to the auction in which buyers can "view the livestock") smelled like a cesspool. The majority of cages lacked, food, water and were covered in feces. All the dogs were scared and shaking - a truly heartbreaking sight. What distrurbed me the most was the number of dogs immediately registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) following the winning bid. I cannot imagine that any of these breeders are improving the health, temperament and quality of purebred dogs.Several rescue groups were awarded dogs which were surrendered by the auctioneers. All of them were in a severe state of neglect, one of which included a beautiful four year old German Shepherd who was missing a good portion of the lip

rotecting her jaw. The Shepherd is now in foster with me, my husband and our "Shaver 4" (three rescue collies - one a mill rescue - and a rescue sheltie). Thanks to the wonderful care received from the team at Animal Hospital of Polaris - [link

I am more committed than ever to following Pennsylvania's lead in shutting down these type of auctions! I will be working diligently with the support of local rescue groups, state legislators, Best Friends Animal Society - Animal Law Coalition - [link

As of the date of this letter, 2,205 concerned citizens from around the world have signed a Petition expressing their outrage over this auction - [link

Thanks in advance for your kind consideration.

Please spay/neuter your pet, and remember that every homeless pet has its own disaster story. Opt to adopt. Don't buy from a pet store.
I donate ALL profits from the sale of our premium products and accessories to local rescue groups and non-profit canine organizations!
