Before you begin forcing your dog with charcoal & peppermints, needlessly stressing him, consider her food. We had a similar experience with our rescue dogs, German Shepherd & GS/Rott mix. GS dogs are known for digestive and skin problems.
The shelter gave us a bag of Purina One at time of adoption, thought it was OK. One dog got such dry skin she chewed the inside of her legs raw - scabbed over. The other dog began scratching & was shedding so much, I thought he'd be bald in a week. I thought,
great, the weekly medicated baths begin! And both dogs farted.
One day in a pet store, while shopping for Vet recommended Science Diet (Hairball Formula) for our cats; who by the way CHOKED on hairballs every-other-day!, we went to the dog food section & began searching (for a miracle). A Nutro Foods sales person approached us, talked to us & gave us a few samples.
It was recommended to mix the Nutro with the old food to prevent stomach upset, not shock them, gradually increase Nutro, decrease old food. There was no need!
The cats liked it immediately - after about a month NO more hairballs! The dogs LOVED it, they picked a mouthful of the mixture, spit it out onto the floor, ate all the Nutro kibble and left the Purina.
Since then, we buy ONLY Nutro foods for our pets, the cats are soft as rabbits & no hairballs to date. The dogs look like oil was poured onto them, the itchy dry skin & the digestive discomforts cleared up in about 3 weeks with no

roblems to date, I SWEAR by it!! I buy it at PetsMart, it's more expensive than Purina, or other foods sold at retail/food stores, but it's not bad & worth every penny (a 40lb bag costs about $30). Check out their website: [link

I hope this is helpful, good luck!
