German Shepard Puppy Pictures Can you Post some??

Anyone have pictures of their German Shepard puppy?? or when their shepard was a pup?   Looking from birth to whenever.........lol
Ive already pretty much determined Dixie does have Elkhound in her and Id like to see some pups her age that are Shepards.
Im sure there is something else in there even if its part shepard too because she is pretty tiny and I dont think she will get that big, but only time will tell.
    Thanks

I got this fellow from the pound am I am not 100% sure but he sure looks like a pure bred GSD. And people on this forum who raise GSDs said he looks like a pure breed (it doesnt matter to me but for the sake of figuring out what your dog is I am sure it matters to you)

Thanks, He is very very adorable!!! Love those ears.....lol  Dixie definitely has a shorter snout than that and her ears are flopped over, more like the elkhound.  But her coloring is pretty close to the shepards coloring.  When I first saw her I thought for sure she had shepard in her and I still do..........so now I have two breeds that are probablly in her.  Elkhound and Shepard.  But there must be a small breed tied in there somewhere because of her size........
Now how much did your pup weigh around 12 weeks?
    • Gold Top Dog
He weighed about 30 lbs. But he also came from the shelter and still is not the perfect weight (at 4 months). He was underweight when he was 12 weeks old. I would say now he weighs around the 40-45 lb range (although I have been meaning to weigh him, he could be bigger!) at 16 weeks old.

If you posted a picture I am sure a lot of people would be willing to guess what she is :)

Ok at four months old he is 40 to 45 pounds?? Can I say Holy COW!!! lol
I have actually done the "Name the Breed Game" already when we first got Dixie.  Alot of people saw the German Shepard in her.  We also had beagle, chihuahua, elkhound, terrier and I cant remember what else.  So I just thought if I saw some pictures of elkhounds and shepards as babies I could really see how much she looks or doesnt look like them.[:D]  I dont really "need" to know its just fun to try and figure out.[:D]  As she is growing older Im more curious.
Heres a couple pictures for you.[:)]

This one above is when we first got her.  The shelter told us she was 12 weeks but the vet said she was only 6 weeks.  At 7 weeks she weighed in at 6lbs.

This one below she is about 10 weeks and she weighed in at 9lbs.

Another one to show her size.  She is sitting on a toddler camping chair.  This was at about 10 1/2 weeks old.

She just turned 12 weeks old on Monday............and shes getting taller, sortof. lol  But she is still so small.........Ill have to get a new picture of her to post.......

[:D]Here they are......12 1/2 weeks old.........I just took these in our kitchen. [:D]

I love how Daisy has her arm around Dixie in the first picture.....lol  She loves her.  Daisy is about 25lbs and she is almost 2, so you can see Dixies size better with her beside Daisy.

"Dixie definitely has a shorter snout than that and her ears are flopped over, more like the elkhound"

Elkhounds have erect ears as well. Your puppy looks almost exactly like our Buckwheat when she was a pup....she is a Husky/Terrier cross, the wire coat came in as she got older. She looked a whole lot like a undersize Husky pup as a wee one. Husky's do come in that Agouti coloring pattern

I see more husky in this pup than I do Elkhound or GSD...
[linkhttp://www.huskycolors.com/agouti.html]http://www.huskycolors.com/agouti.html[/link] Scroll down to Myshka...they look a LOT alike!

Wow I do see the coloring to be similar.  That stripe down the front of her face is very similar to that husky.
Another poster on here showed me her Elkhound when he was a puppy and as puppies they do have the floppy ears that eventually straighen up like that above.
I had not thought about husky.  Although all these puppies.........shepards, elkhounds and huskies are all huskier than she is.  Shes not all full and fluffy and her paws are smaller sized.  I cant imagine her getting as big as these full breeds do so thats why I think there is a smaller breed somewhere in there.   She goes to the vet again on the 28th when she will be 14 weeks so It will be interesting to see how much she weighs then.

I wish I could find that pic I have of Buckwheat as a pup....you'd be floored by how much they resemble each other, she was TINY as  pup, so cute! Buckwheat is now 8 years old and weighs 25lbs and is a bit fat! In her youth she never got over 23lbs. Thin boned spindly legs and a mean tuck up....almost whippety in build. Her ears were identical at that age, then "batted out" and stood up....and now they're mostly erect and small on her head like a husky's ears but they looked HUGE on her during the gangly puppy stage.

MANY BYB bred Husky's have these stick like legs and are rangy and lean, and the terrier might well have been quite small like a Schnauzer type (salt n pepper schnauzer coloring is actually the same as a grey and white husky in distribution of the colors)...I think that's where Buckwheats "smallness" came from.

Darn it I wish I could find that pic...lol...

Is Buckwheat a Beagle?  Im assuming not.....lol  A husky terrier mix?
Im so confused........lol  I would love to see the picture if you can find it.
Dixie looks like alot of breeds....lol  Oh and her coat is not all soft and fuzzy its more wire like.  and its shorter.
We used to own a husky a long time ago.  I need to hunt down her pictures as a puppy.  Since I had not been thinking husky it never hit me to look at her baby pictures.
Here are some more of Dixie I just took in the kitchen sleeping........

Lol, they could be kin...[:D] I HAVE to find that pic now lol...because if I show you Buck now you'd not believe it was the same dog....she's changed that much. That's the fun of a mix...you never know.

Buck/Buckwheat is my only non Beagle. We've had her since 8 weeks old. She's more my hubby's dog but she tolerates me since I feed her haha!

So is your mix a husky terrier mix?  I can imagine that Dixie will change so much in the next few months.  When did your Buck quit growing?  Like when you knew his final size approx?

Buckwheat is a female...yes she is the Husky x Terrier. She was probably adult height at around 5-6 months old. She didn't fill out much as she's lean...her coat changed tho, came in fuller and longer but still is a wire coat (double coat like a husky tho thick undercoat in winter), complete with beard!....her color faded to an overall "wolfish grey" shade, diffused by the length of her coat.

    Thanks[:D]
