Hello everyone
]
I'm Kathy from Northeast Iowa. My husband is a retired teacher, and I am retiring this May after 34 years of teaching Special Reading. I am 54 and my husband is 58. We have lots of time to spend with our puppy, Maggie who is currently 7 months old. She is a Yorkipoo. I posted on another thread that she was supposed to be 5-8 pounds fully grown, but already weighs 13 pounds
] We sure do love her though!!
I love to boat, read, travel, do crafts, decorate, shop, and do wine tasting.
We will take an occasional trip without Maggie, but she is going with us to New England this summer for 3 weeks. Traveling with a dog will be a new experience. We are driving, and will have to do some motels, but 1 week will be in a house in Rhode Island, and another in a cabin in Maine. She will learn to be a traveling pooch, we hope. She loves to go in the car with us now, so we think she will adapt pretty well.
She will also soon learn to be a boat dog. We have a small cruiser on the Mississippi River that we live on all summer, so she will soon have her own life jacket, and get her "sea legs" hopefully! She seems to be pretty adaptable, so we think she will do well. As long as she is with us, she is happy!
Maggie absolutely loves people!! I have never seen a dog who loves people this much!
I grew up with a Manchester Terrier. I had 2 poodles right after college, and our last dog before Maggie was a sweatheart of a Cocker Spaniel named Charlie. My husband said we would not have another dog after we lost Charlie, but he is absolutely "puppy whipped" now with Maggie! My daughter has a border collier/spaniel mix that is a month older than Maggie, so we trade puppy sitting.
This is a great site. I had found another dog site, that I did a lot of reading on, but boy did some people on that one get NASTY! I was almost afraid to post! People here really seem great!
Sorry this is so long! If I can figure out how to post some pictures, I'll do that soon.
