Mornin' everyone! I''m new to this forum, but i can already see i'm going to like it here! I'm from a tiny community in west central Louisiana. I'm the proud mom of two boys, step mother to 1 daughter and I have 2 grandsons. I am a first grade teacher and love my job...I hardly ever have a bad day at work! I have a 1 year old spayed shih tzu named Chiquita whom my husband bought for me last year for my birthday/Valentine's day. She's a brat and I love her to death!
Last Thursday (4/5/07) I had a full blooded, solid red w/ black mask male Pekingese show up on my doorstep. He was matted, skin and bones and so pitiful. Needless to say he's now part of our family, cleaned up and beautiful, unless his owners show up. I took him to the vet and found out he has heartworms. We have to wait a few weeks for him to get his strength back and gain weight before we can even talk about treatment. I call him Willie Nelson becasue he was a red-headed stranger! We updated his shots and wormed him but he had been on his own for a while. I have put the word out that i have him and left posters around in businesses. he is very well trained and so sweet. He's still weak but getting stronger every day.
Chiquita wasn't too sure about the little fur ball at first but she's already forgiven us for bringing him in and tries to get him to play with her all the time. She's such a sweet natured little girl. She's very rambunctious though and Willie Bo looks at her like she's lost her mind!
I know y'all will be able to help me through the heart worm treatment and general advice. Chiquita is my first small housedog so it's been an adjustment, and not 1 year later i have two of them, so I KNOW i'll have a ton of questions! I'll post pictures as soon as I can figure out how. It'll be great talking with yall!
