]Hello everyone! I JUST found this section existed. I am not
too new, but have really enjoyed reading some of the intros on here from folks I have been posting with for the past few months. It is nice to read a little more about them and I have met so many nice people on this forum.[8D]
I live in Southern California and am a greyhound NUT. I have always had pets and I grew up with dogs. My parents always had dogs they rescued from the local shelter or ones that they found. About 8 years ago I started volunteering with a local greyhound rescue because I had always thought the breed was so sweet and had the best dispositions. Turns out I was addicted from the first day I volunteered and it was only a matter of months before I had my first greyhound Gumby. Soon after came my spooky boy Petey. We had both dogs for about 5-6 years and then lost both of them within six months of each other. DH and I were devastated by the loss and he said he couldn#%92t handle the thought of losing anymore dogs for awhile so we went 2 years before just recently adopting again.[

]
I have 2 cats Quincey (12) and Barnaby (11) and even though I love them…the dogs are my world! Jimmy James is almost 7 and Prudence is almost 3 and I have had them for 6 months (JJ) and 3 months (Pru). Both had previous multiple homes and things just didn#%92t work out. They both have a lot of issues, but that is why I chose them (or rather they chose me
]). Greys are such easy dogs and 90% of them can go to almost any home with no problems, but the 10% continue to bounce from home to home and some end up staying crated for the majority of their lives. Neither DH nor I can handle that so we have decided to ONLY take the ones that have problems because we feel we can give them a fighting chance at a happy life and will exhaust all efforts before ever considering returning them.
I have posted several pics of my dogs that I don#%92t think I have posted before. I absolutely adore these guys so I thought I would share them with you.
Now to maek it more interesting for those of you who I have gotten to know a little through posts, here are some things you probably
DON#%92T know about me already:[

]
1) I am an only child which was great growing up, but becomes more of a burden as you get older and have to care for aging family members. My mother has had diabetes for over 45 years and has almost tripled her life expectancy. She is disabled now and lives only a mile from me so I can help care for her. She is a wonderful woman and has been an inspiration in my life.
2) I call him my “DH” (dear husband for those of you who are newbies), but we technically aren#%92t married. Oh sure…common law and all after almost 11 years of living together but not legal on paper. We met when I was 21 and he was 30. He would bring his kids in to the restaurant I worked at every other Friday night when it was his weekend with the kids. He is the most wonderful man and makes me laugh every single day! If I didn#%92t have him in my life I would be hard pressed to find someone else who would challenge my way of thinking the way he does or see joy in the smallest of things.
3) “DH” has 2 adult kids that I ADORE! The boy will be 22 in a week and the girl is turning 20 next month. It has been such a joy to have them in my life and even though I didn#%92t have a chance to be in their lives until they were 7 and 9, I feel I got to experience the best years! I couldn#%92t love them more if I gave birth to them myself and I am proud to see so much of what their dad and I taught them come out as they become wonderful adults. [sm=dance.gif]
