Humm… Introductions are always difficult and even more so when many people here already know me. It seems like it wasn't long ago that I was a newbie here also. Anyway, onto my speech…
My name is Amanda and I'm 24 years old and a struggling college student, just been in college for way to long. I'm working on a double major in Geology and Biology with animal science option. I've worked as a vet tech with two wonderful vets who taught me so much about the health and care of animal. The vets I worked for are like family to me and I can not thank them enough for all they have taught me. My love for animals has lead me to do a whole lot of reading and learning about them. I'm still a little fresh to what I have learned so I do make mistakes but am willing to accept my faults and move on. In real life I am quiet and a bit reserve but on here I'm ready to say what I think needs to be said.
On to my dog… My Gizmo, my gremlin, my world; she is what keeps me going. Call me crazy but I would do anything for her. When I have my days that bring me down I have Gizzy to bring me back up. She has her share of problems but in her imperfections is where I find myself. She has trained me how to be more confident in everything I do. If I can deal and care for her struggles and the many behavior and health problems she has I can learn how to deal with my own personality. It really took a dog to show me this and that is why I love dogs and why I find myself coming back over and over to this fourm.
I am very interested in learning about show dogs and in the future I plan to own one. I have always been found of the herding dogs, they are the dogs I grew up with. I've lived a farm-like life for most my childhood and witnessed these dogs in action. As many of you know I am on a waiting list for a bearded collie. I've read every piece of material I could get my hands on about the breed. I also found a great breeder who has given me wonderful advice to help me get started and what to expect from her pups. I still have to wait a few months before the pup is even born but in the mean time I'm learning what I need to know about agility, obedience and conformation so I will be ready for my new fur friend. This forum has really prepared me a lot for it and I'm so excited about everything.
So that is a very brief introduction to myself, my dog and my future dog. That is my life as I would explain it to others and that, my friend, is my universe as I see it.
"Hello everyone!”
