    Having Accidents

Hey all, we have a fairly older cat named Snirt (the vet estimated that he's about 8 years old) that we took in (he was a stray) last October. Well, he's quite suddenly started having accidents in the bathroom. Two nights ago, he deficated in the tub, and this morning, urinated on a towel on the floor in front of my father. This is in the same bathroom.

This is completely new behavior for him. So, I think we'll be taking him to the vets to make sure nothing's wrong physically.

The only recent changes we've made in the house is changing the other 4 cat's diet to Innova Lite from regular Innova (we're having difficulties getting the weight off of them, but he's on reg Innova still because he's a little thin).  Could this cause the litterbox to smell different and cause problems? It started right around the time we made the food switch.

    What do you guys think?

could be he doesnt like the smell now. how many litter boxes do you have? the vet we used to use, told us that there should be one more litter box than there are cats. no way do we have room for 3 though, but we have two one for each cat.

if it was just pee, i would think UTI, but with both i dont know.

We have two boxes that are cleaned daily (I know you're suppose to have one for each cat, but space is limited). I have talked to my mom about possibly needing another box. We'd have more, but, like I said, the problem is space... the house is large, but it's hard finding places that Maddi can't get into that would be appropriate for a box... and, since just two has been working, we've been putting off getting more. I think I'll try to get my parents to add another one anyway.

    Thanks
