The epitome of a Foster Mom

I live in a household with many cats and dogs.  My daughter is a Vet Tech and is always bringing home animals that need a bit of care, etc.  A few weeks ago she brought home two week old kittens whose mother had just been killed by a car.  We started feeding them with an eyedropper because they would not take the nursing bottles designed for small animals.  After a few days of this my female kitty who is about a year old decided we were doing it all wrong and took those babies into the closet and let them nurse while she would bath and clean them.  We still had to supplement with milk replacer for a couple of weeks until they could eat cat food on their own but Geisty took really good care of them.  A couple of weeks later another motherless kitten around the same age of these little ones came home (he was already weaned) and Geisty took this little one in also.  He now gets a bath whether he wants it or not.  It is the funniest thing to watch.  Has anyone else ever had this experience?  I have owned cats all my life and this is the first for me.

What a great story - I've heard of such things, but not witnessed it first hand!  Way to go, Geisty!

A very sad goodbye today to Geisty.  One of the grandchildren let her out last night and it was late and no one noticed.  This morning on her way to work my daughter found her.  She had been hit and killed by a car.  I sure hope she did not suffer.  I had brought her with me from New Hampshire and I am heartbroken.  But I have two little kitties that were brought home recently.  I will take them and remember my girl fondly.

Oh, I am so sorry. Run free, Geisty.
