    peeing

The little king has stoped using the litter box for his pee time.  I haven't noticed any signs of possible unrinary discomfort.  There are two litter boxes and I clean them everynight.  I have used natural's miricle and other products to get rid of the old spots but he is still not using the litter.  Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Have you changed the litter from the old stuff?
If you have not, then it may be a problem with his urinary tract. Males develope crystals and can cause major problems if left unattended. Take him to the vet to be seen.

my sister had a cat that stopped using the box but didn't show any other signs of problems.  She finally took her to the vet to find out she DID have a UTI.  So go to the vet with a urine sample.

it's always best to rule out health issues when a cat stops using a litterbox before treating it as behavior problems - cause the problem simply won't stop if it's health related

I took him to the vet and he prescribed some antibiotic and some uroeze.  I think it is helping.  Hopefully the big guy will start to feel better soon. It is so not like him to not use the box.  Even when we moved across country he always used the make shift box at the motels.

Hope he feels better soon.  Another key to caring for cats prone to UTI or similar issues is to make sure they get enough moisture/water. I switched my cats (all male) to a combination of high quality canned and kibble to up their moisture intake and that has helped with some issues we were having.
