My Exotic Cat

lol, that's cute. is he/she a british shorthair?

This breed is so cool!  I've never seen one in person but I really like the look, like a persian but with a coat that is easy to care for!  The name always seems to throw everyone off, it's like "whats so exotic about it"?  Ha-it's just the name of the breed[]  Wern't they originated in the US?

Now that truly is the 'exotic cat', eh?

Exotics are the eay way out for those who want the look of a Persian, without all the grooming. I used to show Persians, and hated having to groom them everytime they woke up. They mat up easily if you keep them in a nice show coat. Exotics don't have that long coat, so they are much easier.

It was Americans who bred the American Shorthairs to the Persians to acheive the look. But they were actually looking only to grab the silver coat of the Persian to add to make a cat with the coat of silver, and green eyes. Down down down the line, Jane Martinke had the breed created, which was originally supposed to be called a Sterling. I'm glad they didn't choose that, because Exotic just fits them so much better.
Currently, they are extremely popular in the UK at cat shows.
