Hi guys!
First, I don't have a cat. I have a Great Dane. But I work at a vet. Somehow...we have taken in two strays...from two different people...and they stay in our vets office until we find homes for them. We were able to find a home for 2 sisters a few months back,,,and a baby kitty that someone brought in, and then one of the techs took home a cat that someone left in the parking lot. But I guess we ran out of people. Worst part is that one of them tested Leukemia positive. She is friendly and a sweetheart...eating and drinking nicely. But she is in isolation so that other cats that come there won't be around her. The vet said "someone will take her,,,someone that doesn't have other cats and will keep her inside" but no one is actively trying to find them homes. I keep asking people..but so far nothing. Its December here in Cleveland Ohio,,,I guess I should be looking at the fact that they do have us to keep them, feed them and keep them warm and dry. BUT it breaks my heart every day when I go in there first thing in the morning. The one that is not in isolation gets to spend much of his day walking around in the back,,,sleeping curled up by a computer,,,going anywhere back there that he wants. The one is isolation is out of the cage most of the day,,but back in a small room,,waiting for one of us to go in and pet her.
I guess I just want to know if you guys (that know cats so well) think they are happy? Do you think if they both stayed their a year (hopefully we find a home before then) would that be cruel for them? Are they satisfied just getting a little pet here and there during the day 5 days of the week?
I am a dog person...dogs are much more needy,,,,,but I still can't get over feeling so bad for them. Wondered what you guys thought.
