Kitten stealing cat!

    Kitten stealing cat!

We found Leo in a parking lot a couple of months ago.I believe he is about 4 months old now.We also have 5 week old kittens. For some reason Leo has started trying to steal one of them! We have caught him 3 times now carrying the same kitten away by its scruff.I am not sure what his intentions are.He doesnt seem to have any interest in playing with them. When we put him with a couple of them so they can meet he seems scared of them! Maybe he doesnt recognize them as cats but sees them as prey? he hasnt hurt it but carries it very carefully.

When I foster kittens I have to closely watch my one male cat, Zeus. I don't turst him around kittens at all.
I read once that a male cat will kill kittens that don't belong to them.
I'd keep a close eye on Leo. His intentions may be harmless but better safe than sorry. Zeus was about 1 years old when I fostered for the first time...I simply didn't like the look in his eye when he was staring at the kittens. And their mom didn't either....

I would be watchful also.  At least until the little ones are old enough to get out of his way or defend themselves.  Those kittens are cute though.  I have a 6 month old kitten I had to hand raise because her mother was killed by a car when she was only 1 week old.  Someone brought her in to the vet's office and my daughter, who was the vet tech, brought her home.  She is adorable but the other cats never seemed to bother with her.  Good luck with these cute babies.

I'd definitely NOT allow any male cat neutered or no...near any small kittens.
    That's just me tho.

    They are very adorable tho...

I've also heard of males killing kittens while the queen wasn't around.  They shoudn't be left alone with him.  Not a chance.

Thank you for the replies.Leo isnt left alone with the babies. They are kept in my daughters room but the little buggers are starting to wander and every once in a while he sneaks in or they sneak out.I didnt think much of it at first ( before he started stealing) because i still see him as a kitten himself. They will be able to go to mew homes in a couple more weeks so i will have to keep him away until then.
