    DIVA IN ISOLATION!

After my last cat passed away (old age) I swore I was not getting another. Not to long after 2 young boys whose family were renting the house next door knocked on my door and asked if I would be interested in taking their cat. They had adopted the cat from the HS but were moving back to Iceland and could not take it. I said no, but suggested they put up some signs around the neighborhood and I offered to put one of their signs up in my kids school. So the next day over they come with this sign that said, "Please take our cat or we will have to take her to the Humane Society and they might put her to sleep. " It really touched me! I asked them when they were leaving. They said "tomorrow!" So reluctantly I told them to bring me the cat and I would make sure it found a good home. Needless to say I still have her. She is lovely, with 6 toes on each paw. Anyways she fit in very well and all was hunky dorey until I got my puppy.

Diva immediately retreated to the rec room in the basement. I figured the two would eventually become friends, but it never happened. My oldest son for all intent and purpose lived in the basement and she became his cat. They have bonded so tightly. My son had some problems with depression and the cat was like theropy for him. Anyways 3 years later my son is engaged and will be moving out in about 6 months. I just can't let Diva live down there all by herself and I am hoping I can coax her to start coming back upstairs with the family and the DOG!

    Any advise?

Can't your son take her with him? Would you be willing to let your son take her?

Yeah, I think he should take her with him, if possible.  She'll be miserable without him, and I would like to think he would be, too.  She is his cat ...

if he can't take her I wouldn't worry too much - that's her life. Could be worse.
But it would be nice if he could take her. She'll probably never like the dog and I wouldn't force her to try. I have two adult fosters right now that are terrified of my dog and they prefer hanging out in the bedroom than deal witht he dog. But there are 2 of them to keep each other company (hint hint)
