We lived in Orange for 9 years (but home was the farm [

]), and our next door neighbor trained Quarter Horses. Being the horse crazy kid I was, I would watch him work the horses from the cane break between the properties. The B's worried about me getting into snakes, so I got invited to come sit in their yard and watch. Talk about make a kid's dream come true!
When we finally moved permanently back to the farm, Mr. B found this Appy mare that was pregnant and being kept in a sand lot with very little feed. You have to understand, he was a die hard Quarter horse man, and didn't even look at other horses LOL. For him to buy her just as we moved - it was a dream come true for me. My parents let me cash in some savings bonds, and I bought her! For an eleven year old, I was in heaven. Cinnamon gave birth in August, and Star wrapped me around her hoof from that day on. I need to find her birth-day picutres and scan them in. She put her head on my lap that day and went to sleep! I don't think it could have gotten any better that day. Makes me cry just thinking about it. I'm sure ya'll understand.
I trained her myself, and while we never did get to do much riding due to my health, there will never be another horse in my heart like her. That picture was cropped, or you would see the crutches to my right leaning against the fence pole. I basically broke my ankle, and was on crutches for months. Sometimes I think I would be better off wrapped in bubble wrap! hehe That is one reason I don't have any horses right now. I have horse cravin's instead of baby cravin's! Maybe one day, I'll get to find another one that will touch my heart like Star still does. Thanks for letting me share my girls.
