• Two-colored eyes pinto whtsthfrequency Posted : 3/25/2007 2:54:03 AM Here is my favorite horse from our research group at school ( we have COPD horses and measure effects of hay quality, etc). His name is Jangles and he has one brown eye and one blue eye I don't know if he is a true paint or just a pinto color (what is the difference anyway? I was always told that pinto meant that they had three colors, i.e. white, brown, and black in the picture, while a paint is only two distinct colors. • Meghan Sweeney Posted : 5/2/2007 10:48:19 AM Actually, a Paint is a horse of Quarter Horse descent, and it does not have to have "paint" markings.  A pinto, is a horse of color that descended from other breeds, ie, a colored Saddlebred, Half-Arabian, Draft, etc. I am an Arabian/ Half-Arabian person and we see a lot of Arabian/Paint crosses, this is where it gets sort of confusing, even though the horse is half Paint, and colored like one, it is still considered a pinto. Having known many "paint people" and many "half-arabian people" I happen to know that a "paint person" would be terribly offended if their horse was called a pinto, and a "half-arabian person" would be offended if their horse was called a paint. Horse people are almost as bad as dog people! • Priscilla Hahne Posted : 5/3/2007 6:07:16 PM Hi,   Wow, there seems to be a few ideas of Paints and Pinto's.  A Paint is colored QH.  The horse has to be purebred as well.  A Pinto is a colored horse.  Paints can be double registered as a Paint/Pinto but no other horse can.  I had a QH wiht a blue eye and a brown eye.  I do beilieve Paint/Pinto's are the majority of the horse's with two different colored eyes, but not always.    I rode for years but had to stop a couple of years due to heart problems.  I was 30 when I had to give it up.  0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
